2022 Topps Chrome Formula 1 product basics
Topps began their partnership with Formula 1 in 2020 and has continued to release racing products every year since. Chrome Formula 1 continues to have all of the typical Chrome offerings, including plenty of parallels and refractors.
The set includes both Formula 1 and Formula 2 drivers as well as some cards focusing on the cars. Unlike some other products, autographs are not a guaranteed hit in hobby boxes.

With two years of data now, it’s becoming easier to gauge the value of these releases. Let’s take a look at the investing potential for the third iteration of Chrome Formula 1.

Investing in Hobby Boxes
Let’s take a look at resale values for hobby boxes over the past two years.

As you can see, there is quite a large disparity between the two values. Prices for 2020 have stabilized around the $2,000 mark with little change in the past year. Meanwhile, last year’s hobby box goes for 5 times less. Rightfully, investors should be a little skeptical of investing into hobby boxes this year.
Investors should keep an eye on what price Topps decides to sell these at. If they decide to lower prices compared to last year, it might be a worthwhile investment. On the other hand, if Topps sells these at over $500 a box, don’t expect these to grow substantially in value.
Investing in Singles
Considering the value of some of the best singles from last year’s release, the results are promising.

Plenty of singles outpaced the value of a hobby box last year. Although these still don’t keep up with the tremendous value carried by 2020 cards, they are still a solid investment. Expect this trend to continue in the 2022 iteration.
Final thoughts on the 2022 Topps Chrome Formula 1 release
In Topps’s third lap with Formula 1 cards, they impress with some fresh inserts and an updated card design.
It remains to be seen how in-demand it is after a down year last year, but it seems like that will be determined by Topps pricing strategy. Overall, this is certainly a product to keep an eye on to see how it pans out.
