Phoenix has carved out a unique lane for itself among Panini’s Optichrome releases. With a colorful look, a wide array of parallels, and a focus on both rookies and veterans, it offers collectors strong value at a mid-range price.

  • 12 packs per box

  • 1 memorabilia card
  • 12 parallels (8 numbered)
  • 12 rookies
  • 6 inserts

Unpacking 2024 Phoenix Football Set

Opening a box of 2024 Phoenix Football offers collectors a fast-paced, colorful experience built around a vibrant chrome design and plenty of chase potential, and this year’s inclusion of the Coloblast SSP has given some extra buzz to the product.

Each hobby box delivers 12 packs with 5 cards per pack, providing a total of 60 cards to rip through, which is a strong amount for a mid-tier product at the $335 price point.

Inside, you can expect to find 2 autographs and 1 memorabilia card on average. One of those autographs will typically be a Rookie Material Auto, tying your hit directly to the highly anticipated 2024 rookie class.

While autograph checklists are slightly thinned this year due to top prospects signing with Fanatics, Phoenix still packs enough punch through colorful parallels and rookie content to keep the excitement alive.

Beyond the hits, the box promises 12 parallels, including 8 numbered cards, and 12 rookie cards. You’ll also pull 6 inserts, with a chance to land short-printed or case-hit inserts like Phoenician, Color Blast, Gridiron Crowns, and the all-new Select Numbers or Select Fractals SSPs.

Parallels are where Phoenix really shines. There’s a wide range of colorful refractors like Color Burst and Fire Burst, as well as low-numbered versions that stretch from Aqua (/150) down to 1-of-1 Gold Vinyls. The constant opportunity for bright, flashy pulls keeps the energy high from pack to pack. And while Phoenix cards are never the most chased, especially in the resell market,  at the $325 price, it’s a reasonably affordable rip for the potential ceiling.

A Few Red Flags to Consider

Like every 2024 Panini football product, there are a few caveats with 2024 Phoenix.
Several top rookies are signing exclusively with Fanatics, which impacts the autograph checklist. This includes:

  • Caleb Williams
  • Jayden Daniels
  • Marvin Harrison Jr.
  • Drake Maye
  • Malik Nabers
  • Rome Odunze
  • Xavier Worthy
  • Brian Thomas Jr.
  • Brenden Rice

While Phoenix isn’t fully autograph-driven, missing some of the biggest rookies certainly takes some shine off the auto checklist.  Collectors focused on pulling ink from top prospects should keep this in mind when deciding to rip or invest.

Should you invest in Phoenix Football?

Is the 2023 Phoenix Football release worth the dice roll? If so, how should you approach it?

Investing in a Sealed Box

At around $335 per box, Phoenix offers a lot of action at a reasonable price point.
The vibrant designs, mid-range rarity of parallels, and focus on rookie content make it appealing for collectors who want grading opportunities without spending high-end hobby box prices.

That said, the absence of key rookie autographs could temper enthusiasm for autograph hunters. As with other 2024 Panini products, parallels, inserts, and low-numbered color cards will likely carry more value this year than the autographs themselves.

Here are the current (4/25/25) selling prices for Phoenix:

  • 2024: $335
  • 2023: $275
  • 2022: $225
  • 2021: $235
  • 2020: $545
  • 2019: $325
  • 2018: $750

The story here is the same as usual, basically: the rookie class can dramatically swing the price of a box, and we see it with Phoenix more than most products since Phoenix has been around for a while.

That said, the lack of top rookie autographs definitely lowers the long-term investment floor for this product. But, thankfully, Phoenix has enough parallels that it’s not autograph-driven and there’s still investment potential.

In short: I’m not buying at $335, but if that number drops sub-$300, I’ll pick up a box.

Investing in Singles

If you’re looking to invest in singles, the best cards would be numbered Phoenix parallels and rookie autographs. If you can buy raw and get them graded, bonus points for that.

Bottom line: Rip, Hold or Pass?

Phoenix Football 2024 presents itself as a product with notable visual appeal, unique parallels, and a comprehensive selection of autograph and memorabilia content. The set caters to collectors who value diversity and rarity in their football card collections, but it’s never really burned as bright as Panini hoped.
