Everything You Need To Know About CardLines Sports Card Breaks
FAQ

Although sports card breaks can follow a similar template, you will want to make sure you understand how the card break is being run.

Always familiarize yourself with the terms of the break before purchasing. In addition, here are some frequently asked questions about CardLines collector-friendly breaks.

Check this page for the latest updates to the Cardlines Break Schedule or follow us on X/Twitter. In addition, subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notifications when new videos and breaks go live.

In order to purchase a spot on a CardLines Breaks, you will need to make a bid on eBay and win the auction. Slots are sold via a 5-day auction.

You must pay for the auction before the break to participate. If a slot has not been paid by that time, it will be forfeited. Note that all break sales are final -- no refunds or returns.

We break a variety of sports and products. However, we focus primarily on baseball, basketball and football.

Cardlines prices our breaks with a starting minimum bid of $1.99. The precise amount you pay will be based on the final auction price + shipping.

Yes, the cost to ship multiple teams is less per team when combining teams. The additional cost is $1 per team. If bidding on multiple teams, wait until the auctions are over and you will receive an invoice for the discounted amount.

When buying into a CardLines break, we make every effort to get the cards to you in the condition they are pulled. Hits will be sleeved and top-loaded. Rookies and parallels will be sleeved. The whole package will also be well packed and protected for safe delivery.

Cardlines Breaks are broadcast live on our YouTube channel. In addition, if you miss a live break broadcast, an updated list of all breaks is available on this page. All Live break videos are available on our YouTube channel.

The amount of time for CardLines Breaks varies depending on the product being ripped. On average, a typical break takes around 25 minutes.

Cardlines mostly runs "PYT" or "Pick Your Team" breaks. If we do not do a PYT break, it will be clearly labeled in the auction.

A "PYT" or Pick Your Team break is one of the more popular types of card breaks. With this type of break, participants get the opportunity to select specific team(s) before the break. Once purchased, collectors will receive all cards from that team.

Unlike set flat prices for random breaks, PYT breaks typically have variable costs based on the desirability of the team. For example, purchasing a PYT of the New York Yankees is going to typically be more expensive than say, the Baltimore Orioles.

With a random break, participants in the break will purchase a random slot in the break. Then at the beginning of the break, all slots will be randomly chosen, often by team.

If a card is pulled consisting of two or more players from multiple teams, we will use a method to fairly and randomly determine the recipient of the card.

If a player is wearing a different jersey, the card will be awarded to the team's name on the card. If no team is displayed, the card will go to the team where the player signed for the longest.

Miscellaneous cards will be randomized at the end of the break.

If a Cardlines sports card break does not sell out, the teams will be available for sale at the beginning of the stream. You will be able to purchase available teams at the beginning of the live stream in the YouTube Stream Chat.

After you purchase a team(s) through a CardLines break, you do not need to view the stream live to receive your cards. Once the live stream Break is over, the video will be available on the Cardlines YouTube channel.

Your cards will be automatically shipped to your mailing address after the break. Watching is not required.

Cardlines.com ships cards out the next business day after a break and most collectors should receive their cards within 3-4 business days.

Depending on the specific break, there may be scenarios in which no players from your team are pulled. In this case, you will not be left out! CardLines will mail you a "Skunk Package" as a backup to this scenario.

There are no returns or refunds on any of our break products.

Sports Card Breaks

Over the last several years, sports card breaking has become an important part of the hobby for its emphasis on socializing the hobby, being a cost-effective way to enjoy more expensive products, and just being a whole lot of fun.

Cardlines provides fairly priced and low-cost breaks that are not only entertaining and fun but also done professionally.

Low-cost, collector-friendly breaks from passionate collectors looking to grow the hobby!

Our exclusive breaks are hosted and run by Cardlines’ own Jeff Johnson, a collector whose experience dates back to the junk wax era. Jeff’s expertise, humor, and attention to each card makes opening cards with him a premium experience.

Card Breaks - What Are They ?

In its most simple definition, card breaking is opening up a case, box or pack of cards. But in its most popular and most commonly used form, including probably why you are here, “Card breaking” or “card breaks” refers to when a company or individual purchases a product (such as a sealed box or case of cards), sells parts of the break to collectors and then ships the cards that each collector hit during the break.

Oftentimes, breaks are sold to collectors by teams, meaning that for a price, you will receive a specific team during the break, which you can either buy specifically or at random (terms and conditions will vary based on the break and the breaker).

During the break, the breaker will stream the opening of the product live, so that all participants and viewers can watch, sweat, and discuss the action in real-time. And of course, fawn over the cards being pulled and opine about how lucky a particular break participant is.

After the break, all cards that you pulled will be shipped to you. For instance, if you had the Minnesota Twins during a break, would you receive all cards from Minnesota Twins players pulled during the break.

A Message from Jeff Johnson, Cardlines Breaker

What’s up Sports Card Fans!

It’s another day….another chance at ripping some cardboard gold!

As Cardlines Breaker, I’m excited to help expand the sports cards hobby and passion for it. I welcome you all to join me in a safe and positive community where we can have fun, talk sports, and most importantly rip some packs open.

A little bit about myself… I’m a husband, a father of two boys, and part of an extremely close midwestern family. I coach youth baseball and youth basketball and love how that keeps me young and involved.

I’m a junk wax kid, grew up in the 80s, bugged my mom for a pack every time we went to the store, saved up my pennies when Upper Deck first came out, and loved watching the likes of Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Kirby Puckett, Tony Gwynn, Cal Ripken Jr, and so many more.

Heck, my oldest’s name was influenced by my love for baseball. Like many of you my age, I stepped away from the hobby for a little while, but also like many of you, the COVID pandemic brought me screaming right back and I love it more than ever.

I love seeing my favorite players and adding to my PC; the push for short prints, numbered cards, autos; and relics or printing plates are my personal favorites. I’m extremely excited about having the opportunity to help make cards more accessible and fun to all of you.

These breaks are about all of you and I thank each of you for your time and your membership in the Cardlines Community. Let’s see if we can find some of that cardboard gold together!
