2022 Topps Diamond Icons dropped on August 17th with all hits (autos, relics) and no base set. A big part of the set is the on-card autographs and the cut signatures. Today we’ll explore these options and share the checklists.
There are a number of interesting autographed offerings in the Topps 2022 Diamond Icons product. With different ink colors, limited production runs, and impressive checklists, there’s a lot to like here.
Consisting of 79 cards, this offering features autographs ranging from today’s biggest stars (Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani), Hall of Famers (David Ortiz, Derek Jeter, Nolan Ryan), and other notable former players (Bo Jackson, Nomar Garciaparra, Will Clark).
As with all cards in the set, each card is limited to 25 copies or less. Parallel versions are also available, with Black (/10), Red (/5), and Gold (1/1) variations.
New to 2022, this offering contains 45 cards, all serial-numbered to /25 or fewer. The cards are produced from acetate, making them a hot pull.
The checklist is an interesting mix of young stars (Bobby Witt Jr., Ronald Acuña Jr.), future Hall of Famers (Joey Votto, Miguel Cabrera) and retired stars including Hall of Famers (Ken Griffey Jr., Rickey Henderson, Rod Carew) and franchise icons (Don Mattingly, Mark McGwire, David Wright).
Parallels include Canary (/10), Black (/5), and Pristine (1/1).
As the name suggests, this 30-card set includes player signatures in red ink. Much like the other offerings, the lineup is impressive, with many Hall of Famers and future Hall of Famers featured, both current and future.
You’ll find parallel versions here as well, including Black (/10), Red (/5), and Gold (1/1).
Again, the name tells the tail here with this 43-card offering featuring signatures in silver ink. As with the prior offerings, the checklist remains impressive, with some fun players mixed in that were franchise icons, even if they aren’t Hall of Famers (Cecil Fielder, Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry).
Much like the Red Ink version, you’ll find Black (/10), Red (/5), and Gold (1/1) parallels in the Silver Ink offering.
The only autographs in the 2022 Topps Diamond Icons product that aren’t on-card autographs are the cut signatures. What it lacks in on-card autographs, the offering makes up for with amazing checklists of some really interesting and iconic players.
Featuring a massive 165-card checklist, with each card limited to 4 copies (with 1/1 Gold parallels), this set is a vintage baseball fan’s dream. With a mix of Hall of Famers and notable players that span the entirety of the 20th century, there’s a lot to like here.
This 23-card set of 1/1 cards lives up to the “Immortal” tagline. The checklist starts with Babe Ruth and ends with Ted Williams. In between, you’ll greats like Cy Young, Joe DiMaggio, Roberto Clemente, and Satchel Paige. These dream pulls are surely a big part of what draws people to this high-priced offering.
