As we think about the value of 2023 Topps Series 2, the question of whether this is a good “buy and hold” candidate to buy unopened and hold? Let’s look at what the last few years Topps Series 2 tells us.
Shop for 2023 Topps Series 2 boxes on eBay.
Year | Recent Comp Price |
---|---|
2023 | $85 (retail box) |
2022 | $70-80 |
2021 | $55-60 |
2020 | $60-70 |
As you can see, a look at the last few years shows that while these boxes tend to hold at least most of their value, they’re not really a good candidate to buy and hold sealed hobby boxes or jumbos.
This isn’t shocking, as flagship Topps is a baseline product meant to be opened, not hoarded.
2023 Topps Series 2 is a nice sequel to Series 1. As the middle offering of the flagship trilogy (Update will come a bit later in the year), it offers a solid design and a nice mix of parallels, inserts, relics, and autographs to chase. The reasonable buy-in price makes it a nice flagship for Topps to build off of with other products. The inclusion of a few decent rookies gives an additional wrinkle to box-breaking.
