2024 Prizm Football is coming a bit earlier than usual, and while the timeliness is nice, it’s still flawed by a pretty hollow autograph checklist.
And still, 2024 Prizm Football is still Panini’s best NFL product this year. It’s still the hobby’s golden boy.
And while last year’s product was released at $900 per box, this year’s Prizm release is asking for $1100 at release. But is that a good price?

Since Prizm is the biggest annual release, it seems deserving of at least a quick introduction.
Prizm has been the king of basketball and football products since 2012. In many ways, Panini defined the hobby with this product for over a decade, and until Topps takes over all the licensing, it’ll stay that way.
And make no mistake, we all have qualms with Prizm – the quality control has gone into free-fall over the last few years – but it’s still the best blend of high-end potential and (relatively) affordable entry price on the market, combining mass appeal with a reasonable price point.
One key for Prizm to maintain its value is reaching the mass market with affordable retail offerings. You can find blasters, hangers, and mega boxes at your local Walmart or Target.
The “everybody can get a taste” effect has made Prizm such a touchdown. Whether you’re looking to spend $35 on a blaster or $1,100 on a hobby, you can rip some Prizm.
Think of it this way: The new Marvel movie might not win any Oscars, but it’s crazy popular because it’s something everybody will enjoy.

Historically, Prizm has done a good job of not changing the recipe too much over its decade-long run.
Whether you’re ripping an old box of Prizm or the newest release, you can expect some common threads: 12 packs of 12 cards, a couple of autographs, and the big hit potential coming from those autographs or the colored parallels.
Over the years, though, Prizm has significantly expanded the lineup of colored prizms. It started with base, red, green, and light blue, basically, and now there are over 30 colors to chase.
It can be argued, even, that there are too many numbered parallels. When you have so many rare cards… are any of them too rare? Think about it, at least.

This is the same format as last year – no changes at all with the top cards.
When writing this, we don’t know what exactly the “1 Rookie Prizm” is. Best guess? It’s a silver rookie. But with 10 #’d prizms guaranteed, it’s odd to see them distinguish the silver rookie from the three base prizms.
Like every 2024 Panini football product, there are a few caveats that come with 2024 Prizm.
Many of the top 2024 draft picks are working exclusively with Fanatics on autographs: Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, AD Mitchell, Malik Nabers, Brendan Rice, Brian Thomas Jr., Xavier Worthy, and Rome Odunze, to name a few.
The redeeming aspect for Prizm is that the autographs aren’t the most significant value drivers, but rather the Prizm parallels. So while there might not be autographs of Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, or Drake Maye, there’s almost certainly going to be low-numbered Prizm parallels worth hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars. This alone makes the 2024 Prizm the best release on the NFL calendar thus far.
(And, note, the 1/1 parallels of Brock Bowers, Drake Maye and Michael Penix were all hit on release day).

The 2024 Prizm Football set maintains its reputation for vibrant, parallel-driven design, featuring a wide array of the NFL’s prominent stars, emerging rookies, and notable legends. This year’s release follows a familiar approach with numerous parallels across the base set, catering to seasoned collectors and casual fans looking for variety within each box.
While some notable autographs are absent due to exclusivity agreements, the autograph lineup still offers a range of players with multiple parallels and an expanded checklist, including a mix of rookies and veterans.
For collectors interested in case-hit SSPs, the 2024 Prizm set includes Manga Cards, with Japanese-inspired art, plus Color Blasts and Color Blasts Duals.

If you’re hoping to invest in Prizm 2024, the first question to answer is if you should buy singles or wax.

Here’s the value of the last few years based on recent sales (as of 12/18/24)
The elephant in the room is the 2017 box at $9,000. That’s the Patrick Mahomes year, so you almost have to throw that out entirely.
Ironically, though, at least as of lately (12/18/2024) we’ve seen a lot of excitement fizzle out for 2023, 2022, 2021 thanks to struggles from Trevor Lawrence, CJ Stroud, and the entire 2022 rookie class as a whole.
2020 is the first year of Prizm and the most expensive, but that value is propped up by Hurts, Burrow, Allen, Love and Tua rookies and this set has autographs of all of them… not just half.
So 2024’s six exciting starting quarterbacks make this box potentially more appealing than anything from 2021-2023. Still, the lack of autos from the three highest-drafted quarterbacks caps the ceiling for Prizm. Thankfully, though, it’s not a product that’s defined by autograph value as much as colored prizms, so it’s still a decent box and a price that doesn’t seem too out-of-line.
I’m not recommending buying this at $1,100 for a long-term hold. But the price, compared to previous years, classes, and potential, at least aligns with expectations.

Prizm rookie cards are the blue-chip investment of modern Panini rookies. So, if you’re going to invest in just one card of anybody, Prizm is the way to go.
The silver rookies are slightly overvalued, considering they’re the most common Prizm insert. That said, your best bet of making a guaranteed profit is finding a few silver rookies of players you believe in. Then, buy them raw (after asking for more pictures) before grading them.
But caution: don’t buy the first Prizm cards that appear on eBay for this year. The price will inevitably drop as the supply meets the demand.
While the Prizm 2024 has flaws, it’s still the most exciting product from an underwhelming rookie class.
With 2024 Prizm Football, you’ll want to get a piece of the action, whether grabbing a hobby box or simply ripping some retail for fun.
