2025 Topps Sterling Baseball is an unabashedly high-end product with a price tag to match. But are these a good candidate to buy-and-hold unopened? Let’s see what a look at recent comp prices for hobby boxes from the last few years can suggest to us about the potential for 2025.
Year | Recent Hobby Box Comp Price |
---|---|
2025 | $1,800-2,000 |
2024 | $1,750 |
2023 | $1,350 |
2022 | $1,000 |
Based on the fact that prior years released at lower prices than 2025, such as the $1,200 pre-sale prices for 2024. So, these seem to hold their value well unopened, and even have some upside. Will that last long-term? It’s hard to say, but at least in terms of a few years, these are a solid candidate to hold unopened.
What about in terms of singles? What can a look at recent sales of 2024 Topps Sterling Baseball tell us about the potential high water mark for 2025?
A Bryce Harper Red Nike Swoosh Patch Auto 1/1 sold for $4,000 recently. So did a 1/1 Vladimir Guerrero Jr Bat Nameplate and a 1/1 Bat Nameplate card of Bobby Witt Jr. A Mike Trout/Shohei Ohtani Dual Auto Jersey /15 in BGS 9 sold for about $4,000, as well. A 1/1 Ronald Acuna Jr. Bat Knob auto sold for $3,100, and a Shohei Ohtani Strikes Auto /10 sold for $2,500.
Prices go down from there, but clearly there’s the potential for some big hits. The highest priced hits are tough pulls, of course, and with a buy-in price approaching $1,000 a card, use caution.
All products have pros and cons that need to be considered before spending your hard-earned hobby budget on them. 2025 Topps Sterling is no different, but what are some of the items to keep in mind when making a decision.
Pros
Cons
2025 Topps Sterling Baseball is an ultra-high end product with a chance at some amazing hits, but with a high buy-in and only two cards per box, there is significant risk, as well.
Know the odds, and if like the rush of a quick break with high stakes, and your collecting budget allows, you can do worse. These are nice looking cards and there are some nice potential hits.
