An Introduction to 2023 Impeccable

Impeccable is releasing on February 9, 2024 at $1,300/box. 

Don’t get this twisted: Impeccable is a very nice product. It’s high-end with nice, low-numbered cards that both look and feel premium.

The big chink in its armor, particularly for 2023, is that Impeccable doesn’t include autographs of arguably the three most sought-after prospects depending on how you feel about Anthony Richardson (whose autographs will be included in the set).

Here are the cards you can expect to unwrap if you open a box.

Unpacking the 2023 Impeccable Football set 

Impeccable is one of the best-looking products we’ve seen for 2023, and it will probably stack up well against anything else coming down the pipe for Panini. It’s a product named after and known for rare minerals: namely silver and gold. 

Each $1,300 box includes 5 or 6 Autographs including one RPA, 2 or 3 Base or Parallel Cards and there’s 1 Silver Or Gold Card Per Case

You can unwrap the brand’s signature Elegance Helmet & Patch Auto RC or Rookie Patch Auto RC in each box, on average. 

Collectors can anticipate on-card autograph sets, including Elegance Veteran Patch Autographs, Extravagance Patch Autographs, Impeccable Jersey Number Autographs, Immortal Ink, and more, providing a diverse range of options.

For those seeking multiple autographs, the Inkpeccable Duos, Trios, and Quads inserts present an exciting opportunity to chase autograph cards with 2-4 signers.

Furthermore, enthusiasts can embark on a hunt for Impeccable’s Silver and Gold piece cards, available in NFL, Hall of Fame, Pro Bowl, and USA Flag versions, falling one per case.

Investing in Impeccable Football seated boxes

Is it a good hold as a sealed product? Considering a $1,300 release day price, let’s look at how 2023 Impeccable football stacks up to years prior.

Here’s the value of the last few years based on recent sales (as of 1/16/2024)

All this said, these numbers don’t necessarily apply to the 2023 box because, again, it doesn’t have autographs from three leading athletes. 

So, for that reason alone, I’d warn against investing in this one as a long-term hold. Of course, the sports card market could rise as a whole again, but when you remove the 2023 top rookies from the set list, this box isn’t any more attractive than the 2019 box or 2022 box. 

Stay away from this box. For the price, chase something with more rookies and parallels, like Prizm.

Investing in Panini Impeccable Football singles

If you’re looking to invest in singles, the best cards would be numbered Impeccable parallels and rookie autographs from the rookies included in the set.  If you can buy raw and get them graded, bonus points for that. 

So buy short prints, autographs and colored parallels if you want a long-term Impeccable hold.

Bottom line: Rip, Hold or Pass?

Impeccable Football is too much of an autograph driven to be a long-term hold as a sealed product, and it’s limited checklist makes it tough for single investments.

As a whole, it’s a product you don’t want to mess with for 2023. Steer clear and chase something else.
