Fortnite Series 3 Review

Fortnite is fast becoming the top video gaming franchise in the hobby. But will it last? Our Fortnite Series 3 review has the answers.

At first, it didn’t look like Fortnite cards would take off. But then, I ran into an archived Reddit thread while carrying out the research for this article. Someone had been gifted a box of the newly released 2019 Panini Fortnite Series 1 and was trying to see if they were worth anything. Unfortunately, the consensus was that the cards weren’t worth much, and Panini had ripped off fans for selling the boxes for $25.

While Fortnite has grown into one of the biggest and best video games out there – with 350 million users and millions of players gaming concurrently at any time – it wasn’t always this significant.

But those who held on to their Fortnite 1 boxes did not regret it. Today, Mega Boxes sell for over $1,000.

History Of Fortnite Cards

Buy Fortnite Series 1 boxes on eBay.

Made by Epic Games in 2017, Fortnite amassed more than 10 million players within the first two weeks of its release. The game currently has over 350 million players. As a result, Panini was soon interested in a collaboration.

Panini’s Fortnite Series 1 hit store shelves in April 2019. It was a 300-card set that highlighted gameplay screenshots, outfits, characters, and weapons from the game. It sold out within weeks of its release, and its overall value has steadily increased. Several cards easily sell for over $1,000.

The second installment of the Fortnite trading card set – Fortnite Series 2, sold out even quicker. The success of Fortnite Series 1 has convinced collectors of the investment potential of the Fortnite Series. These factors ensured that the Fortnite Series 2 sold out even faster than the first series.

The Series 1 Mega Box has strong value. How much are they on eBay?

Fortnite Series 3 Review Of The Pros

Fortnite is, without a doubt, one of the most popular games ever made. The Fortnite trading card series takes the very best of this insanely popular game and offers it to collectors with well-designed cards.

As usual, several formats are available to cater to the budget and taste of every collector. Even if we ignore how big of a phenomenon the Fortnite video game is, the 2021 Fortnite Series 3 is set to be a hit amongst collectors and fans alike. The premium quality of the last two Fortnite Series has ensured that Fortnite trading cards are an especially beloved trading card set.

Fortnite Series 3 Review Of The Cons

Hit cards from the Fortnite Series 1 and Series 2 have sold for over $20,000 (up to $100,000). However, the fact remains that there’s a ceiling with trading cards of this nature. With sports, you can be reasonably sure that there will still be, say, football fans ten years down the line. However, when it comes to cards for video game characters, the sole indicator of value is how popular the video game is.

A sudden drop in interest in the Fortnite game would significantly affect the value of its trading cards. The cards could be worth a fraction of their current price in a few years

However, this does not seem particularly likely. The reason for this lies in Epic Games’ model for Fortnite. The Fortnite Games are updated weekly to ensure the game stays fresh. So you could be battling villains from far away galaxies one week and a zombie hoard by the following week. From the Butterfly event to the Star Wars event to the Galactus event, Fortnite always finds a way to deliver unrivaled entertainment to players. We do not expect that to change anytime soon.

Release Date

Epic Game’s third installment to the Panini Fortnite Series would be available for purchase on the 2nd of March, 2022.

We will update this section when made available.

Fortnite Series 3 Review Of Value

Besides being aesthetically pleasing, Fortnite trading cards have proven exceedingly valuable. Moreover, early collectors have been offered a sound ROI quickly. So let’s break down the investment prospects based on how previous releases have fared.

Wax

2019 Panini Fortnite Series 1 Hobby Box $450
2019 Panini Fortnite Series 1 Mega Box $600
2020 Panini Fortnite Series 2 Hobby Box $215
2020 Panini Fortnite Series 2 Mega Box $499

Remember that Series 1 and Series 2 Fortnite boxes were less than $40 on release. Some hobby boxes can go for as much as $1,499. Such boxes have slightly more weight than the average and have a high possibility of containing a Cracked Ice card.

Singles

When it comes to Fortnite cards, the Black Knight Cracked Ice card trumps all other cards in value. One reportedly sold for a record $105,000. Here’s a BGS MINT 9 on eBay with an asking price of $79,000.

2019 Panini Fortnite USA PRINT #284 Raven Crystal Shard / Cracked Ice $2,100
Fortnite Series 1 RED KNIGHT #285 Crystal Shard Cracked Ice PGS $1,800
2019 Fortnite Series 1 Crystal Shard Cracked Ice #214 Ghoul Trooper MINT $583
2019 Panini Fortnite Series 1 #233 Peely Holo Holofoil PSA 10 Gem Mint $1,000
2019 CRYSTAL #196 SKULL RANGER Panini Fortnite Series 1 Italy Print $999
2019 Panini Fortnite RAGNAROK CRYSTAL SHARD PSA 10 $1,200
2019 Panini Fortnite Far Out Man Holofoil USA #211 PSA 10 Gem Mint POP 2 $800
2019 Panini Fortnite USA Crystal Shard #281 Ragnorok PSA 10 GEM MINT $1,425

Although we didn’t include the sales of Fortnite Series’ most in-demand card – Black Knight Cracked Ice – the value of the key singles still looks decent. Moreover, it offers a fair ROI for cards pulled just two years back for a $10 pack. If you were lucky enough to pull a Black Knight Crack Ice, you’d be getting over $20,000 from a $10 investment. Additionally, Fortnite is making a serious push into the metaverse, and we expect the value of these cards to keep increasing.

The Black Knight Cracked Ice is the holy grail of Fortnite cards. See what is available on eBay.

Bottomline Of The Fortnite Series 3 Review

The cards are beautifully designed and highlight the very best part of the Fortnite gaming experience. Additionally, Fortnite is making a solid push into the metaverse, and when that happens, Fortnite will transform from its battle royale and creative modes to something even more significant. For this reason, we expect the prices of these cards to increase in value over the next couple of years.
