Background of the 2022-23 Bowman U Chrome Victor Wembanyama
Ever since the first cards of Victor Wembanyama, the 2023 NBA 1st overall pick, have been released, collectors have been flocking to get their hands on signed Wemby cards.
Among the initial releases featuring prominent signed Wemby cards include a 2022-23 Bowman Chrome University, 2022-23 Bowman University Inception and 2022-23 Bowman U Best Basketball. Although prospect cards of players not in their pro uniforms can be a drawback for some collectors, these are the first cards of one of the biggest talents in a generation.
Time will tell if the cards will hold their value, but the fact is collectors want cards from the phenom.
The 2022-23 Bowman U Chrome is particularly sought after by collectors as the card has the iconic “1st Bowman” designation. And although the autograph is a sticker-auto is a nice looking card of Wemby in what is sure to be an iconic card should he become the player is touted as.
The green parallel cards are numbered to /99 making them already quite rare and a sought-after collectable. An effective 1/1 card, especially one to be hyped in this matter is sure to be life-changing card for somebody.
The “1st ever signed” Victor Wembanyama card will be special
A Yellow parallel of the 2022-23 Victor Wembanyama card, numbered out at /75 recently sold for over $4,000, giving collectors a decent idea of the green parallel’s value. Even unused redemptions of numbered Wemby auto cards are going for a pretty penny, with the yellow fetching about 75% of the value of the recent sale.
With a trip to Texas and a chance at a “one of a kind” Wemby, the green parallel redemptions will likely be spiking over the next couple of weeks if you are likely to find one.
In San Antonio, one lucky winner will receive the “1st ever signed” card and with it, a card that will likely fetch tens of thousands of dollars and bragging rights for the collector for a lifetime (or at least while Wemby stays hot). Of course, most collectors who go to San Antonio won’t win the ultimate prize, but they will still receive a card worth mid-five-figures, a free trip and a story to tell.
