2022 Bowman Inception Baseball: Prospects Get Some Inception Flair
Bowman Inception brings flair and some trippy designs to the prospect world. Perhaps not surprisingly for such a high fidelity product, it’s arrived fashionably late after October and February release dates got pushed back.
But what does the high-end, flashy designed 2022 Bowman Inception contain? What are the hits? And with only of a handful of cards per box, does it offer value?
2022 Bowman Inception Baseball release date & release formats
The release date for 2022 Bowman Inception Baseball is set for March 3, 2023 (subject to change). This release was originally expected way back in October, so delays do happen.
Packs of 2022 Bowman Inception Baseball contain 7 cards per pack. Hobby boxes contain just one pack per box. Cases contain 16 hobby boxes.
Collectors can expect two autographed cards per box, plus one parallel, on average. Hobby boxes are pre-selling in the $140-160 range, with most falling right around the midpoint at $150.
2022 Bowman Inception Baseball base set & design
The 2022 Bowman Inception Baseball base set consists of 100 cards. The checklist consists of pre-MLB debut minor leaguers in major league uniforms.
Players appearing on their first Bowman Inception appearance get a special Inception Inaugurations stamp on the card front. This is similar to the “1st Bowman” stamp seen on Bowman and Bowman Chrome cards.
The design is very similar to Topps Inception, with loud designs and whimsical backgrounds. The designs certainly don’t feel traditional in any way, but they’re far from boring. I’m sure many fans will enjoy the splash of color and design flair.
2022 Bowman Inception Baseball parallels
Parallels are seeded one per box, and are all numbered to 99 copies or less. The parallels up the design even beyond the wild base set look and feel. If you like the base design, you’re likely to really love the parallels.

2022 Bowman Inception Baseball autographs
As you can imagine with any product that includes just 7 cards per box, with almost 30% of those being autographs, that autographs are a key part of 2022 Bowman Inception. The offerings are fairly straight forward, with plenty of parallels to spice up the chase.
Bowman Inception Autographs
Similar in design to the base cards, these come with varying print runs. Parallels include Blue Foil (/99), Fuchsia Foil (/75), Gold Foil (/50), Gold Foil Pattern II (/50), Orange Foil (/25), Red Foil (/5) and FoilFractors (1/1).
Primordial Prospects Autographs
With autographs of some of the most exciting prospects in the game and a design that takes things up a notch, these are sure to be popular hits with collectors. Varying print runs.
Parallels include Blue Foil (/75), Gold Foil (/50), Orange Foil (/25), Red Foil (/5) and FoilFractor (1/1).
Inception Silver Signings Autographs
Another autographed offering with varying print runs, this one features signatures in colored marker.

Bowman Inception Short Print autographs
A very tough pull here, with only 10 copies of each card available.
Autograph Dual Relics
With two memorabilia swatches paired with an autograph. Base offerings are serial numbered. Parallels include Gold Foil (/50), Orange Foil (/25), Red Foil (/5) and Inception FoilFractor (1/1).
2022 Bowman Inception Baseball value
Bowman Inception only has a short history, being in just its second year. But what can prices of 2021 hobby boxes tell us about the product’s potential as a “buy and hold” candidate?
|Year||Recent Sale Price|
While certainly not enough data to be conclusive, we can infer that the product has good potential to hold value, but perhaps just a lot of future upside. More data is required here, but this feels like a product you open, at least to me.
In terms of singles, some of the harder-to-pull cards from the 2021 Bowman Inception set have sold in the $400-700 range. Julio Rodriguez unsurprisingly leads the pack here, although a few other top rookies also have fetched strong prices.
With a buy-in price of over $20 card, these are not cheap, but there does appear to be at least a solid shot at getting some value here, although there is certainly risk involved.
Final thoughts on 2022 Bowman Inception Baseball
With flashy designs and some interesting autographs and parallel hits, this high-end product has some real appeal. It will be interesting to see how the fact that it is coming out in early 2023 affects demand, but this one has some potential to be a fun break.
