The release date for Panini Elite Extra Edition is scheduled for February 22, 2023. As always, this is subject to change and has already slipped from the originally planned late January date.
Hobby packs of 2022 Elite Extra Edition contain 5 cards per pack. Each hobby box contains 5 packs per box. Hobby cases contain 20 boxes.
Hobby boxes of 2022 Panini Elite Extra Edition are pre-selling for around $100. 20-box hobby cases are pre-selling for around $2,000. Hobby boxes guarantee 8 autographs per box, plus two memorabilia cards and 5 Opti-Chrome cards.
For those counting along at home, that means 15 of the 25 cards in the box are hits.

Elite Extra Edition puts the focus on recent draft picks and Dominican Prospect League players likely to sign a pro contract. The DPL connection is a Panini exclusive, so this is likely to be these players’ first cardboard appearance.
Some of the key players included in the product include: Jackson Holliday, Josh Jung, Eury Perez, Termarr Johnson, Elijah Green, Druw Jones, Jacob Berry, and Brooks Lee.
The size of the base set has not yet been announced, but we do know that base cards are serial-numbered to 999.
While the exact parallel offerings and their print runs aren’t yet known, we expect a number of parallels of the base, autographs, and inserts to be offered.
We do know that there will be hobby-exclusive Elite Extra Edition Optic parallels, which feature Opti-Chrome technology.

Autographs, landing eight per box, are of course one of the main focuses of Elite Edition. The autographs come in a number of interesting offerings and designs.
Signatures Prime Numbers / Turn of the Century / Signatures Aspirations Die-Cut represent autographed offerings that come in both base and parallel versions, with a chance at on-card autos of some of the hottest draft recent draft picks and signees.
College Tickets Optic Signatures highlight some of the best players coming out of college baseball, and feature Opti-Chrome technology.
DPL Signatures 2 features Dominican Prospect League stars on the verge of signing their first pro contract.
Elite Extra Edition Optic Autographs offer short printed autographed versions of the Optic parallels.
Prospect Materials Signatures feature some of the hottest young future stars, with autographs and memorabilia.
Each hobby box contains two memorabilia cards in addition to the autographs.

While the autographs and memorabilia cards will get a lot of the glory, there are other inserts available in the 2022 Elite Extra Edition product worth chasing.
On Campus offers cartoon images of top college stars in front of their alma mater.
With any prospect product, long-term value can be a challenge to determine. Since these players are many years from the majors, it’s very hard to predict who (and which years) are going to be valuable years in the future.
That being said, what do the last few products tell us about the ability of Elite Extra Edition to hold its value?

Clearly, the results aren’t great, with both the 2021 and 2020 versions of the product selling for less than the pre-sell price of 2022. 2019 is selling for a bit more, but not substantially so.
If you’re going to buy this product, it might be best to break it and hope for some nice hits.

2022 Panini Elite Extra Edition is an interesting product. Hobby boxes contain a scant 25 cards, but 15 of those are hits of one sort or another. The buy-in isn’t all that high at $100, although $4 per card isn’t exactly cheap, either.
