The 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League Soccer is here for one last time. Select perfectly blends, beautiful cards, exceptional inserts, and parallels in a way that excites collectors.
Select is easily Panini’s second most popular Premier League product and a must-have for Premier League collectors.
The 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League Soccer has sleek designs and high-end finishes in line with other Select releases, such as the 2024/25 Panini Select Serie A Soccer.
This release carries added significance, as Panini Select’s final Premier League set before the license transitions to Topps next season.
This article shall explore everything about the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League set, from its dazzling parallels and autograph inclusions to what makes it so special, and its potential as a long-term hold in the hobby.
The history of Panini’s Select brand dates back to the early 1990s under Pinnacle. It was then discontinued for several years before being revived in 2013 in the NFL.
While the 2013 Panini Select Football set marked the revival of the Select brand under Panini, Soccer fans had to wait a few years to see a Select soccer set, and the Premier League fans had to wait even longer to see a standalone Select Premier League set.
Panini purchased the Premier League’s trading card licensing rights in 2019 and started a new chapter for Select fans. As expected, Panini made an immediate splash with its debut release, kicking off the partnership with the 2019-20 Panini Prizm Premier League.
Prizm is a premium brand and quickly became the brand’s favourite soccer set. Select fans got the first Panini Select Premier League standalone soccer set in 2022 with the 2022/23 Panini Select Premier League.
As expected from a Select set, it was loaded with several parallels and hit cards per hobby box.
Since then, Panini has delivered annual Select Premier League Soccer sets, with the 2023/24 Panini Select Premier League being a noteworthy mention.
However, with Topps set to reclaim the Premier League license this year, Panini’s Premier League era is coming to an end, making the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League the final Select Premier League release at least for the foreseeable future.
The release date for the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League is set to drop on May 23, 2025.
This release comes incredibly late in the season, arriving when the Premier League is one game week away from its conclusion.
With the title race and relegation spots already decided, the only lingering suspense is over which teams will secure those final three UEFA Champions League qualification slots.
However, this timing is very much in line with previous Select releases. Last year’s set didn’t hit the shelves until July, several months after the Premier League season had ended.
Unlike most soccer sets, Panini Select has consistently put out a variety of formats to cater to every collector at every level (taste and budget).
There have been hobby, blasters, mega, and even Tmall releases for all previous Select Premier League releases.
We have three formats confirmed for the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League Soccer.
The 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League Soccer checklist features all 20 teams of soccer’s best league. It perfectly blends the Premier League’s top stars, mixing legends of the game with promising young talent.
Its 250-card checklist highlights the stars of Liverpool, Manchester City, United, Chelsea, and many more exciting teams. This checklist is divided into three tiers, each with a different design.
The Select Premier League checklist maintains a similar set-up as other Select products for the 2024/25 season, such as the 2024/25 Panini Select Serie A and the 2024/25 Panini Select La Liga, with its chrome look and broad list of parallels.
Like all modern chromium releases, several parallels go with the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League base set. Multi-Colour, Camo, Tie-Dye, Zebra and Black are among the possibilities.
The 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League has an exciting lineup of inserts divided into two tiers.
The more common inserts include;
The 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League checklist also has four different short print inserts, with one of each landing per case. These include
The autograph checklist is once again a major selling point for the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League soccer, with signatures from both Premier League legends and current stars.
This year’s product includes names such as:
There’s a healthy mix of club legends and current stars, ensuring there’s plenty for collectors to hunt. Autographed inserts include;
The 2024-25 Panini Select Premier League soccer relic/memorabilia checklist includes;
There are a few rookie cards to target in the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League soccer. Here are the top four to watch, considering the season they’re having, previously highlighted in our 2024-25 Panini Impeccable Soccer article.
The 18-year-old midfielder turned left-back has been a revelation for Arsenal, showcasing maturity beyond his years.
His composure in possession, defensive awareness, and ability to dictate play made him a key player in an impressive Arsenal season. This great form isn’t restricted to the Premier League.
Lewis-Skelly has also played a significant part in Arsenal’s UCL campaign. His rookie cards could surge if he maintains this trajectory.
Minteh has a Topps UEFA Rookie Card from last season, 2024-25 marks his first full Premier League campaign, so he makes our list. Minteh could be a star if his end product improves or if he moves to a team with more support in attack.
The towering Spanish defender has been a defensive pillar for Bournemouth. His aerial dominance, progressive passing, and calmness make him one to look out for.
With such an outstanding performance, a move to a bigger club isn’t unlikely, and this would make his cards jump in value.
Lewis-Skelly and Huijsen are the safest bets to invest in. However, investing in Minteh cards could pay off if he becomes more clinical. Some notable mentions include
The 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League has so much going for it, making it attractive for collectors. Here are some of the 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League pros.
This year’s Select design has been exciting across all leagues, which is true in the Premier League’s set. It features a creative and attractive layout that’s perfect for the energy of the Premier League.
While some might argue that soccer cards aren’t performing great on the market, no one can deny how beautiful these cards look.
Select is a long-running brand with lots of collectors who love it. Several inserts, such as Stained Glass, have a rich history. This set contains several of the most attractive Panini inserts, with their intricate design and artistic flair.
The price is hard to justify at $300 per hobby box compared to similar products. The hobby boxes cost nearly $50 more than the 2024/25 Panini Prizm Premier League while not offering significantly better hits or value.
Additionally, there have been several complaints about mis-cut and off-centre cards. This started with the 2022/23 Panini Select Premier League set and persisted until last year’s Select Premier League set.
While slightly improved from the 2022 release, collectors still report frequent quality control problems in the 2023/24 set. While we hope this wouldn’t be an issue in this year’s set, we’re not optimistic. There’s some good news, though. Panini does offer replacements if you provide pack wrappers and box UPC labels, but the process is slow.
Select Premier League costs $300 per hobby box, making it quite expensive, especially compared to similar soccer offerings. Let’s see how well these cards perform on the market.
2023-24 Panini Select Premier League Soccer Hobby Box | $225 |
2022-23 Panini Select Premier League Soccer Hobby Box | $298 |
Neither of the last Panini Select Premier League hobby boxes has appreciated much in value since their release. The 2023-24 Panini Select Premier League hobby box prices have dropped to $225, several ways off its retail price. This doesn’t look good for collectors looking to invest in wax of this product.
2023-24 Panini Prizm Premier League – Signatures Bruno Fernandes #S-BF Choice Gold Prizm /5 (AU) | $450 |
2023-24 Panini Select Premier League Glenn Hoddle Black 1/1 Auto – Spurs Legend | $650 |
2023-24 Panini Select Premier League – Select Future Alejandro Garnacho #15 Black Prizm /1 | $1,200 |
2022-23 Panini Select Premier League – Field Level Bukayo Saka #241 Gold Wave Prizm /10 | $450 |
2022-23 Panini Select Premier League – Pitchside Signatures David Beckham #PS-DB Tie-Dye Prizm /15 (AU) | $385 |
The Premier League is a top league with many great teams and millions of fans who care about their players. So there’s always value to be found in each box. One of the standout cards from the 2023-24 Panini Select Premier League set is a Spurs legend, and Panini ensures a healthy sprinkle of these legends in each release.
However, with a hobby price of $300, it’s not always easy to earn back the value of a box unless you rip a good box. You can make a significant profit if you have a great rip or struggle to earn back the value of a box with an average box.
This isn’t different from most trading card sets today. This offers even better odds than most products that struggle to deliver the value of a box, even if you have a great box.
The 2024/25 Panini Select Premier League Soccer is great for Premier League collectors. The cards are beautiful, the design is impressive, and it’s fun to rip.
On the downside, it is nearly $50 more expensive than the Prizm set, and collectors are partial to Prizm regarding the secondary value of trading cards.
This set is excellent if you enjoy the thrill of chasing rare cards and like the premium design. It’s the last Panini Select Premier League set for the foreseeable future and has a pretty impressive checklist that’s sure to excite.
It is a perfect addition to any Premier League collection. However, investors should be cautious because soccer trading cards haven’t exactly picked up the way we’d hoped they would. If you want to make a profit, I’d suggest investing in NFL or NBA trading cards.
