Are Some 2024 Topps Archives Boxes Missing Autograph Hits?

2024 Topps Archives Boxes Missing Autograph

Topps Archives is a product that certainly has its fans, but it’s far from one of the most noteworthy releases of the baseball card calendar.

2024 Topps Archives is making a bit of news right now, however, although not for the best of reasons.

What are the issues with 2024 Topps Archives? What are we hearing about it? And what can you do if the problem has affected you?

2024 Topps Archives

2024 Topps Archives is a generally collector-level product that celebrates Topps designs of the past. The product was released on January 8, 2025.

Hobby boxes of 2024 Topps Archives contain two guaranteed autographs per box and have been selling for $180-200 on the secondary market.

Collector Tins of 2024 Topps Archives contain one guaranteed autograph per box and have been selling for $100-130 on the secondary market.

As a moderately priced, retro-themed product, this has the making of a fun break with a moderate chance at good value within. Of course, the autographs are a big part of the potential value, which is what makes the recent reports so troubling.

What we are hearing about missing autos in 2024 topps Archives?

Various reports across social media are suggesting that more than a few 2024 Topps Archives boxes are being opened to reveal they don’t contain the guaranteed autographs.

There are reports of this across Reddit, Facebook, X, and other sites. While it’s far from every box, it also appears to be happening often enough that it’s a “thing”.

As you can imagine, paying the money for a box with a guaranteed autograph or autographs and not receiving them makes your break a lot less exciting, and obviously takes a big part of your potential for a good return on your investment out of the equation.

Note that retail boxes of 2024 Topps Archives do not have guaranteed autographs, so this article doesn’t really pertain to retail.

For what is worth, we have broke a handful of 2024 Topps Archives boxes and we have yet to see any without the autograph hits.

Missing an Autograph in your 2024 Topps Archives Box?

While having a missing hit or hits from your 2024 Topps Archives box can really take the steam out of your break, it doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. Topps has done a good job of replacing missing (or damaged) cards for collectors.

You can visit the Product Defect section on Topps.com and submit the information, including proof of purchase, and they will send you the missing item or items.

So, as a collector, Topps should make you whole again if you happen to get an autograph-free box. That doesn’t exactly make up for the joy this takes away from breaking a box and pulling an autograph.

Topps should be embarrassed by the quality control break-down that allowed so many 2024 Topps Archives boxes to arrive without autographs.

This issue is likely to cause headaches in particular for breakers. A regular collector can be compensated by Topps and get their missing cards, but how will breakers handle a live break where no autos get pulled?

Will breakers avoid 2024 Topps Archives for this reason? Only time will tell, but it could be messy.

Final thoughts on Reports Surfacing of 2024 Topps Archives Boxes Missing Autograph Hits

Boxes coming with guaranteed autographs is a big part of the draw of breaking a box, and a big driver behind the ever-rising cost of new unopened boxes.

Not getting what you paid for is a real downer for collectors. It’s good that Topps will make collectors whole who miss out on the hit, but this is still a black eye on Topps’ quality control and takes the joy out of a break.

Have you gotten burned by the issues with 2024 Topps Archives? Will you be avoiding the product because of these issues? Or are you an Archives fan despite the issues? Tell us about it at CardLines on X.
