2025 Bowman Baseball base set & parallels

The base set of 2025 Bowman Baseball consists of 250 cards. This includes 100 cards of veterans and rookies, plus 150 cards featuring prospects. These prospect cards include a number of 1st Bowman cards, the first licensed professional card of many of these players.

Every 1st Bowman Card In 2025 Bowman Baseball

The 100 card veteran and rookie set comes in only the paper version, but the prospects cards come in both paper and chrome versions. The chrome cards also offer up a rainbow of refractors.

Who are some players to chase in 2025 Bowman? Two players from the top 10 of the 2024 draft who were held of previous products and should have their 1st Bowman cards in 2025 Bowman Baseball. These are #3 overall pick Charlie Condon and #7 overall pick JJ Wetherholt.

Other names we can expect include Jesus Made, Kevin McGonigle, Slade Caldwell, and Jac Caglianone. As a cover boy, one assumes that Wood will also appear on cards, although they won’t be his first Bowman.

The design of 2025 Bowman Baseball is somehow both new, but also just feels like a Bowman design. Blue borders and a curved frame surround the player photo, which pop out of the frame. Player name, team, and position are all at the bottom of the card.

2025 Bowman Baseball inserts

A number of inserts add an extra level of chase to the proceedings.

Anime, the popular insert from 2024, returns for 2025. With 30 cards of top names across the sport in the distinctive anime style.

2025 Bowman Baseball value

2025 Bowman Baseball is an extremely popular prospect-driven product. But are these a good candidate to buy-and-hold unopened? Let’s take a look at recent comp prices for hobby boxes from the last few years to see what they can tell us about the potential for 2025.

YearRecent Hobby Box Comp Price
2025$325
2024$185-$235
2023$180-230
2022$190-225

Based on recent sale prices and the release price of these boxes ($280-300 for $2024 and $300-375 for 2023), these don’t appear to be good buy-and-hold candidates. For such a popular product, this is a bit surprising. I guess just as collectors move onto the next big prospect, they move onto the next big prospect release.

What about in terms of singles? What can a look at recent 2024 Bowman Baseball singles tell us about the potential value to be found in 2025?

A PSA 10 Orange Auto /25 of Yoshinobu Yamamoto sold for $15,000. An ungraded Orange Auto of Jac Caglianone sold for $14,000. A 1/1 Black of Cam Smith sold for $12,000. An Orange /25 Anime Insert of Shohei Ohtani sold for $10,000. A Black Auto /10 and a Blue /150 Auto (my first bowman inscription) of Cam Smith both sold for $10,000, as well.

Prices to down from there, but it’s clear that there is some real value to be found here. Of course, the most valuable hits are also the toughest, but the potential is at least there.

2025 Bowman Baseball pros & cons

All hobby products have pros and cons that you should consider when deciding whether to purchase or not. What are some of the pros and cons of 2025 Bowman Baseball?

Pros

  • With a focus on youth and a bunch of chase elements, these should make for a fun and exciting break with at least a chance at some big hits.
  • The mix of packaging formats provides for collectors with a variety of collecting focuses and hobby budgets to buy the option that is best for them.
  • The 1st Bowman Autograph tends to be a big card for a player, and this is where you will find them.

Cons

  • The price of wax is trending ever upwards, and this product is no different. Add in the fact that these don’t seem to hold their value well unopened, and these have a bit of a “big hit or bust” feel.
  • If you’re not a prospect and rookie aficionado, you may need a bit of help to figure out who the players to chase are here.
  • Speaking of prospects, it’s quite probable that the big cards from this set 10 years from now aren’t the same as they are today. Who are the keepers here will take time to sort out.
