The prices are a little all over the place, suggesting that these are a little hit-or-miss as a candidate to buy-and-hold unopened. That makes sense, as these are plentiful, and designed to be opened. That’s what I’d suggest you do with these boxes.
What about in terms of singles? What can a look at 2024 Topps Series 2 Baseball tell us about the potential for 2025?
The high water mark was a Shohei Ohtani Team Color Border in PSA 10 that sold for $3,500. A raw 1/1 Platinum parallel of Lawrence Butler sold for $2,500.
A Jackson Holliday SSP sold for $1,350, and a Jordan Walker 1/1 Platinum Autograph fetched $1,250. A handful of other cards sold for around $1,000 to $1,200 or so, with prices dropping from there.
Considering the price point of a hobby box, and other packaging formats being even less expensive, these prices are in line with what you’d expect, if maybe even a bit higher.
The best hits are of course super-rare, but for a flagship product, these offer a chance at some solid hits.
