The 2022 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome base set consists of 300 cards, matching the 2022 Topps Allen & Ginter set. That means that in addition to current baseball rookies and stars, the checklist includes stars of the past, players from other sports, and celebrities of various stripes.
The basic card design matches the flagship Allen & Ginter design as well. The one exception is that the cards are printed on a premium glossy chromium stock with the slick finish of modern chrome cards.
Fans of modern chrome cards are likely to enjoy the high-end look and feel of the cards, although I expect some fans of the vintage look and feel of the flagship A&G offering to find these somewhat off-putting.

A staple of Allen & Ginter offerings for years, the mini cards again appear in 2023 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome. Seeded one per pack, there is a mini version of every card in the base set.
As with any modern Chrome offerings, the Refractor parallels of various designs and print runs are a big draw for collectors and one of the most fun chases in the 2022 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome offering.

As you can see, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. 2020 boxes sell for more than the release price, while 2021 boxes sell for less. So, probably not any lessons there. This has the feel of a “rip” vs. “hold” box, but you may feel differently.
As far as singles go, it’s what you’d expect. The best of the best cards, especially in PSA 10 slabs, sell for high prices. For example, a 2021 Allen & Ginter Chrome Shohei Ohtani Autographs PSA 10 sold recently for $1,150. A 2021 Allen Ginter Chrome Ichiro Red Refractor Auto #1/5 PSA 9/10 sold for over $1,000, a well.
Prices drop quickly from there, with no other recent sales over $200, and most significantly below that.
Considering the price point of the product, and Allen & Ginter being more of a vintage-themed set than a high-end barn burner, this isn’t unreasonable.
2022 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome is an interesting offering, with some interesting parallels and a reasonable price point. It’s an odd mix of past and present, but it clearly is building an audience.
