2022 Topps Heritage celebrates the classic 1973 Topps design. It includes several twists for the modern collector. These include several short prints and variations for collectors to chase. Much like the 2022 Topps Flagship release, there are several rarity levels. The variety makes pack busting exciting. So without further ado, here is our guide to 2022 Topps Heritage short prints and variations.

For many years, Topps released cards in series throughout the season. This was a way to keep collectors buying packs to complete the entire set. As a bonus, it was a way to get cards of players who were traded (and rookies) into sets.
The final series typically didn’t sell as well as it was released around or just after the end of the season. Topps, therefore, printed them in lower quantities. To this day, these “high number” cards are considered short print. Therefore, they tend to carry a premium.
1973 Topps was the final Topps set released in series. As a result, the fifth and final series of the 1973 Topps carries a premium to this day. Card #615, the rookie card of Hall of Famer, and Phillies Legend Mike Schmidt leads the way.
The #615 Mike Schmidt is a high number classic. Look for them on eBay.
In homage to the 1973 Topps set, the 2022 Topps Heritage cards 400 through 500 are short-printed. They are inserted into packs at a rate of 1:3 packs.
2022 Topps Heritage Short Prints and Variations: A Guide To Variations
The variations available in the 2022 Topps Heritage are numerous. Therefore, master set builders will discover a tremendous challenge. Meanwhile, the variations will keep collectors on their toes.
Note that some players are featured on many variations. Most notably, the biggest stars in baseball.
In Heritage, it is easy to identify many variations. They are marked in small text on the back.
The “Error” treatment has been applied to five random cards in the set. OK, that’s clearly untrue. After all, this parallel features five of the hottest names in the hobby!

This 12-card variation features a different color for the “player” icon. The player icon is the silhouette of a player in the lower right of the card over a colored circle.
