Topps Heritage is always one of the more popular Topps releases of the year, with fans enjoying the nostalgic look back at Topps designs of the past with modern players and modern elements like parallels.
2025 marks the 25th anniversary of Topps Heritage, with its 2001 debut paying homage to the iconic 1952 Topps set. Each succeeding year has taken its design from the Topps sets to follow.
This year, 2025 Topps Heritage pays homage to the 1976 Topps design. While certainly not as iconic as 1952 Topps, 1976 Topps gets a well-deserved chance in the spotlight.
To this writer, who made his debut on this planet in 1976, it is shocking that this set debuted almost 50 years ago. Like many cards from that year, I have rounded corners and a few creases.
But what will collectors find in 2025 Topps Heritage? What is the release date? What are the hits and release formats? And are these nostalgic cards worth a break?

2025 Topps Heritage Baseball is a nostalgia-driven, retro-themed celebration of the bicentennial 1976 Topps. But are these a good candidate to buy-and-hold unopened? Let’s see what a look at recent comp prices for hobby boxes from the last few years can tell us about the potential for 2025.

Year | Recent Hobby Box Comp Price |
---|---|
2025 | $140 |
2024 | $140-160 |
2023 | $80-90 |
2022 | $60-70 |
2021 | $65-70 |
Looking at the numbers tells a couple of stories. The first is that the increase in prices of wax over the last couple of years is staggering. The second, and more specific to Topps Heritage, is that these don’t appear to be good candidates to buy-and-hold unopened. Prices for boxes from the last few years are selling at or below the release price, more or less.
As an interesting aside, if you prefer the design or rookies from a prior year, perhaps grabbing a couple boxes of 2021 or 2022 Topps Heritage (or one of each) may be a better play than buying a box of 2025.
What about in terms of singles? What can a look at recent comps of 2024 Topps Heritage Baseball suggest to us about the potential for 2025?
The high end is all about Shohei Ohtani. Real One Red Autographs of Ohtani, which are numbered out of 75, have sold for $10,500 (PSA 10), and prices from $10,000, $9,000, $8,000, $7,000, $6,500, and down to $3,500. Beyond Ohtani, an Elly De La Cruz Real Ones Red Auto /75 sold for $2,500. Two George Brett/Bobby Witt Dual Autos /25 each sold for $2,000.
Prices go down from there, but there are a good number of additional cards that sold for more than $1,000. So, while the odds are always long on the top hits, the high end is surprisingly high for a lower cost product.
