Parallels have become a huge and expected part of the modern baseball card experience. It seems like every year, the rainbow of parallels in new products only expands.
So, it was surprising to see a parallel actually disappear earlier this year.
That would be the Black Parallel, which was numbered out of 74 copies each and been a part of Topps Flagship products since 2003. That’s why it was surprising when in 2025 Topps Series 1, Topps actually removed the popular parallel from their hit lineup.

Many collectors reacted negatively to the removal, and apparently Topps listened.
Across a number of social media channels, including Instagram, Topps announced the return of Black Parallels in 2025 Topps Series 2.
Not only are we getting Black Parallel versions of all 350 cards from Series 2, but as a bit of a twist, also includes Black Parallel versions of all 350 cards from 2025 Topps Series 1.
So, if there are gaps in your collection due to these cards missing from Series 1, you have a chance to remedy that.
Topps Black Parallels are popular with collectors and have distinctive black borders that really pop. But are they a parallel that will hold value? Numbered out of 74, these aren’t the rarest of parallels, but let’s take a look at recent comp prices for 2024 Topps Black Parallels to see what the potential for 2025 is.

A 2024 Topps Update Wyatt Langford /74 Black Parallel in PSA 10 sold for $1,200. 2024 Topps Update RC Black Parallel /74 Paul Skenes cards sold raw for $620-700.
A 2024 Topps Update Jackson Holliday RC Black Parallel /74 sold for $450. Prices go down from there, but it’s clear that in addition to looking sharp, these hold some potential value, especially for top rookies and popular stars.
Collector responses to the move have so far trended positive, as you might expect, with most collectors happy to see the striking black borders of these parallels returning.
