The Best Sports Card Auctions of June 2024

June is an important month on the sports calendar. The NBA and NHL are wrapping things up with the finals and the baseball season is heating up with the weather.

Along with all the on-field excitement, the auction action for June 2024 is scorching hot, as well, with plenty of interesting auctions peppered throughout the month.

Goldin Auctions Goldin 100 Part I

Goldin Auctions has part I of their Goldin 100 wrapping up to kick off the month. The Goldin 100 Part I has only 50 items, but they are unapologetically high-end.

Items of Note

The 2003-04 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection 1/1 Logoman Patch Card of Michael Jordan in PSA 10 will surely finish at an impressive price. There is a Mickey Mantle game-used jersey from his 1957 MVP season. Speaking of jerseys, there’s Kobe Bryant’s game-used jersey from the Achilles Game.

There are unopened materials, including a 1986-87 Fleer Basketball Unopened Wax Box. There’s also memorabilia, including a Wilt Chamberlain signed contract.  

There are some exciting non-sports items, ranging from Harry Houdini’s belt buckle to copies of Superman #1 and Playboy #1 (featuring Marilyn Monroe).

For an auction with only 50 items, there is a lot to see here.

The Collector Connection Pre War Sports Cards & Memorabilia X Spring 2024

The Collector Connection brings their Pre War Sports Cards & Memorabilia X Spring 2024 auction, which wraps up on June 2^nd.

As the name implies, the focus here is pre-war and baseball makes up the vast majority of the lots.

This month’s Collectors Connection auction has a lot of great pre-war lots, with a nice mix of years, sets, and conditions. There are of course plenty of T206 cards, including a Red Portrait Ty Cobb in SGC 1.

There are plenty of 1933 Goudey cards, including those of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

There are lots of big names you’d expect that are represented in the auction, from the aforementioned Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, and more.  Lots of other great classic sets are represented, as well, including T205, E90-1, T207, 1887 Buchner Gold, 1888 Goodwin Champs, and more.  

There are boxing cards, vintage photographs, publications, and autographs. If you’re a fan of old cardboard and memorabilia, this auction is well worth a look.

Another highlight is the 1968 Topps Posters complete set with many of the cards autographed.

Clean Sweep Auctions June Major Auction

With 1,001 cards, there’s a lot to like in the Clean Sweep auction this month. The auction wraps up on June 7^th. There’s a nice mix of era and sport, although baseball is the headliner here.

Autographs are well-represented in the Clean Sweep auction this month, including signed baseballs from Roberto Clemente and Jackie Robinson, not one, but two Babe Ruth autographs, and a nice Mickey Mantle signed jersey.

In terms of cards, you’ll find cards ranging from the 19th century, the pre-war era, and classic post-war cards, right up into the current era. These include a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle in PSA 2, a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth in SGC 1.5, and a complete 1967 Topps set with several key cards graded.

Goldin Auctions May Elite Sports Auction

Goldin Auctions is back with another great auction, with the large May Elite Sports Auction wrapping up on June 8^th.

Items of Note

While he’s hurt right now, there’s still just one Mike Trout. The 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Prospect Autographs Orange Refractor #BDPP89 Mike Trout is a BGS 9.5/10 and numbered 25/25.

It’s an iconic card of an iconic player. Equally amazing, and from 100 years prior, is the 1909-11 T206 White Border Addie Joss in PSA 9, the only one in that grade.

Michael Jordan fans will find a game-used jersey and a 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Limited Logos Auto Patch Michael Jordan card in BGS 8.5/10.

The 2017 Panini Contenders Rookie Ticket Autograph Cracked Ice #303 Patrick Mahomes II in BGS 9.5 is another iconic card and a pop 1.

A couple of graded complete sets are impressive lots, including a 1986-87 Fleer Basketball complete set in BGS 9.5 and a 1909-11 T206 White Border Polar Bear set that is the #2 set in the PSA registry.

There’s lots more to explore in this auction, but one item that caught my eye is the 3-card lot of BGS 10 1983 O-Pee-Chee Tony Gwynn rookie cards. These are the only 3 BGS 10 copies of the card, and they’re being sold in one lot.

Gray Flannel Auctions 2024 Summer Games #62

Grey Flannel Auctions celebrates summer with their 2024 Summer Games Auction #62. The action wraps up on June 9^th.

Items of Note

This auction has a focus on memorabilia of all kinds, with cards taking a bit of a back seat. The items offer a nice mix of Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, and more.

Many of the premiere items in the Gray Flannel auction are basketball-themed, including cool memorabilia. These include game-used jerseys of Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Bill Walton, Charles Barkley, Steph Curry, and many more.  

Sneakers? There are examples from Michael Jordan, Shaq, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant, just to name a few. Wayne Gretzky fans will find autographed rookie cards, game-used sticks, and more.

Baseball items range from signed baseballs to the more obscure, including Bill Terry’s 1930 Player of the Year Award and an original Wrigley Field chalk trolley from the 1920’s.

In addition to the major sports, there are also a variety of items from the world of pop culture that are worth a look.

Sirius Sports Cards Auction #367

Sirius Sports Cards brings us their auction #367, which wraps up on June 13^th. With 762 items, this one isn’t huge, but there’s plenty to like. This auction, while it has some nice high end cards, feels a bit more like an auction for the collector, with more attainable pieces that aren’t museum pieces.

Baseball is king here, but you’ll a variety of lots across basketball, football, hockey, and more.

There are a lot of nice autographed cards in this auction, with a couple standups being a 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson rookie card in PSA 8/10 and a 1974 Topps Nolan Ryan also in PSA 8/10. The 1969 Topps Johnny Bench rookie card graded PSA 7/10 is another great signed card.

Other grade cards include a 1969 Topps Roberto “Bob” Clemente in a crisp PSA 8. A 1963 Topps Mickey Mantle in PSA 4. There’s also a 1958 Topps Ted Williams in PSA 5 and the All-Star Williams from that same set in PSA 7.

Heritage Auctions 2024 June 22 Sports Showcase Auction

Heritage Auctions brings its 2024 June 22 Sports Showcase Auction, which features over 1,300 items and wraps up on June 22^nd.

Items of Note

With any Heritage Auction, you’ll find Mickey Mantle well represented, including a 1951 Bowman rookie card in PSA 2 and a copy of the iconic 1952 Topps in PSA 2. Speaking of Yankees greats, Babe Ruth is also well represented, including a signed ball and a 1933 Goudey in SGC 1.5.

There’s a 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan in PSA 9 and a 1997 Fleer Ultra Stars Michael Jordan (Gold) in PSA 8.  Speaking of 1997 Ultra, there’s a 1997 Fleer Ultra Stars Kobe Bryant (Gold) in PSA 9. Another nice card is 1965 Topps Joe Namath in PSA 6.

There are plenty of amazing complete sets here, including 1953 Topps, 1954 Bowman and Topps, plus 1958, 1959, 1961, and 1964 Topps. There’s even complete sets of 1964 Topps Stand-Up and 1971 Topps Baseball Tattoos.

This is of course just the tip of the iceburg, with plenty more to look at from 19^th century items to memorabilia to programs and tickets. 

Robert Edward Auctions (REA) June 2024 Auction

REA brings us their June 2024 Auction, which wraps up on June 23^rd. This is a big auction, with well over 3,000 lots. Vintage baseball makes up the lion’s share of this auction, although football, basketball, hockey, as well as boxing and other sports are all represented. Unopened materials and non-sports are also well-represented.

All the biggest names are here. Ty Cobb is well represented, including a 1914 E145 Cracker Jack in SGC 1.5. Babe Ruth too, including a 1921 Exhibits in PSA 3.5. There are lots of Mickey Mantle items as well, including a 1957 Topps in PSA 8.5. Lou Gehrig too, including a 1933 Goudey #92 in PSA 5. And of course the great Willie Mays is also here, including a 1951 Bowman in PSA 4.

While vintage is king here, there are certainly plenty of newer lots worth a look. Check out the 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks & Prospects Autographs Blue Aaron Judge Blue Wave Refractor Auto in PSA 10. Or the 2018-2019 Panini Prizm Basketball Hobby Box. Or if you’re looking for a cool combination of vintage and modern, check out the 2011 Donruss Limited Cuts Roberto Clemente 1/1 cut signature.

There are some really nice complete sets in the auction. These include the #10 1950 Bowmant set in the PSA registry, the #32 1960 Topps set, #24 1961 Topps set, #18 1963 Topps set, and more.

Sirius Sports Cards Auction #368

Sirius Sports Cards brings their Auction #368, which wraps up on June 27^th. The auction is heavy on baseball from the post-war era up to the 1980’s, but all sports are represented.

There are some really nice, high grade cards in this auction, ranging from the 1950’s to today. To name just a few of the impressive variety, there is a 1954 Bowman Early Wynn in PSA 9 and a 1957 Topps Yogi Berra in PSA 8.

There is a nice assortment of autographed rookie cards in this auction. These include players ranging from George Brett and Mike Schmidt to Rickey Henderson and John Stockton all the way to Ken Griffey Jr.

Memorabilia and non-sports items make up roughly a 6^th of the total lots. The ticket stub from the 1974 game where Hank Aaron hit his 715^th career home run to pass Babe Ruth on the all-time list.

Goldin Auctions 2024 June Elite Auction

Goldin Auctions has its 2024 June Elite Auction ending on June 29^th. The auction is well-named as the lots here are elite, with many higher dollar items that are well worth a look.

Some of the many high-end lots here are far more modern than some of the other auctions this month. A few examples include the 2018-19 Panini National Treasures Rookie Patch Autograph (RPA) Luka Doncic in BGS 9/10,  a 2017 Panini National Treasures Rookie Patch Autograph Patrick Mahomes also in BGS 9/10 and a 2015-16 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection ’03-04 Rookie Patch Autograph Connor McDavid in PSA 10/10.

There are plenty of the big, classic cards you expect to find in an auction of this nature. These include a 1984-85 Star Michael Jordan in PSA 8, a 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan in PSA 10, and a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle in PSA 5.5.

New England Patriots fans will find signed, game used jerseys of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, as well as a 2001 Super Bowl championship ring.

Lelands Auctions 2024 Summer Classic

Lelands Auctions brings us their 2024 Summer Classic, which wraps up on June 29^th. This auction has a nice mix of sports, eras, and memorabilia.

There are lots of interesting cards available, such as the 2003-04 Exquisite Rookie Patch LeBron James Autograph, 2003 Topps Chrome Black Refractor LeBron James in PSA 10, and a 1915 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson in PSA A, just to name a few.

Beyond cards, there a pair of game-worn Michael Jordan shoes from 1985, a LeBron James jersey, as well as jerseys of Nolan Ryan, Brooks Robinson, Sidney Crosby and more. There are some truly unique items, such as the 1972 Roberto Clemente 3,000th Hit Full Ticket and a 1939 Hall of Fame Induction Ticket Signed by Babe Ruth & Ty Cobb.

The auction contains a nice collection of over 50 Jackie Robinson and Dodgers items. There are also a number of nice Roberto Clemente lots.
