March has a good mix of products from all major sports, and in this article, we’ll look at a few of the biggest.
As always, here are the CardLines picks for cards to watch in March 2025. And, also as always, a feature on this list doesn’t mean it’s a must-buy. We’re sharing honest thoughts on all products.
Please note: the release schedules are very fluid and move frequently. These dates are not guaranteed (and with so many releases tentatively scheduled for March, it’s a safe bet many will not release this month).
Releasing at $540, 2024 Panini Obsidian Football returns with its signature dark Optichrome design and a mix of premium autographs, memorabilia, and short-print inserts. Known for its futuristic aesthetic, this set remains a favorite among collectors looking for high-end football cards.
Each hobby box contains one pack of seven cards, delivering one patch autograph, one additional autograph, two memorabilia cards, one insert or insert parallel, and two base or base parallel cards.
Collectors can chase Super Short Print (SSP) inserts, including Vitreous, Black Color Blast, and the all-new Black Stained Glass, adding an extra layer of rarity to the set. With a strong 2024 rookie class, this set features autographs of top names like Michael Penix Jr., Rome Odunze, Brian Thomas Jr., and J.J. McCarthy.
2024/25 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey continues the flagship tradition with the next 250 cards of the season’s base set.
This annual release remains one of the most widely collected in hockey, featuring 198 veteran cards, 49 Young Guns rookie cards, and three checklist cards. The Young Guns subset is always a highlight, offering some of the most anticipated rookie cards of the year.
Collectors can also look forward to the return of UD Canvas, which showcases both established stars and Young Guns rookies. Dazzlers appear with a fresh 2024-25 design, available in both Blue and Pink versions.
The UD Portraits set receives a new theme and updated paper stock, too. New to Series 2 is Young Guns Renewed, which reimagines classic Young Guns cards from 2013-14 onward with original artwork by Luke the Cardist.
The 2024 Panini Illusions Football Hobby Box brings its signature holographic designs and unique content back for another season – no collectors are excited about this release, but it consistently produces a few intriguing cards.
The 100-card base set, printed on holographic filmboard, provides a visually striking foundation for the product.
Collectors can expect 3 autographs, 2 memorabilia cards, and 5 numbered parallels per box. Highlights include acetate inserts such as Illusionist, Clutch, Abracadabra, and Mystique, alongside patch autograph sets featuring rookies, current stars, and retired legends.
Illusions Football continues to deliver a mix of innovation and collector appeal, making it a standout release in the 2024 lineup.
At about $300/box, 2024/25 Panini Donruss Basketball returns to spearhead the collecting season (sorry, Hoops). It offers a large base set, rookie autographs, and a mix of inserts. Each box includes one autograph and 60 inserts or parallels across 10 packs of 30 cards.
Autograph sets include Rated Rookie Signatures, Dominators Autographs, and Next Day Autographs, with new additions such as Net Marvels Signatures and Retro 2014 Autos.
The insert lineup features Crunch Time, Unleashed, Hardwood Masters, Zero Gravity, Net Marvels, and Swish, with Hobby-exclusive Diamond Red (#’d/75) and Holo Blue Laser (#’d/49) parallels.
Collectors can also find Hobby-exclusive SSP Night Moves and Optic Rated Rookies Preview cards, which are numbered from 75 to 1.
While we still don’t know much, we know unlicensed 2024 Topps Finest Football features a 300-card base set structured into three tiers: Common, Uncommon, and Rare. Each box contains six packs with ten cards per pack and offers two autographs, two Rare base cards, and ten inserts.
With an emphasis on rookies, veterans, and parallels, this release continues the Finest brand’s tradition of chrome designs and varied refractors.
At the time of writing this, the hobby boxes are priced at $239 pre-order, but they also appear to come in Breaker’s Delight, which is priced at $379.
2024/25 Panini Court Kings Basketball continues its focus on art-inspired designs and rookie-themed content and a fairly affordable $224.99 release price.
Each box contains one pack with ten cards, including one autograph, one memorabilia card, one base parallel, two inserts or insert parallels, and a mix of rookie and base cards.
The rookie lineup includes four tiers—Rookies I, II, III, and IV—along with the super-short printed Rookies 0. Autographs come from sets like Fresh Paint, Heir Apparent, and Legacy Portrait Signatures, while memorabilia cards include Debut Showcase Memorabilia, Art Nouveau, and the newly introduced Rookie Jumbo Swatches.
Collectors can also chase super-short printed inserts such as Aurora, Paint by Number, and State of the Art, along with the returning La Cinque Piu Belle SSP insert.
Releasing on March 14, 2025, 2024/25 Panini Select La Liga Soccer features all 20 teams from Spain’s top division.
The 250-card base set is structured into three levels—Terrace, Mezzanine, and Field Level—with various parallels, including the new Bronze Checker (#’d/59) and Honeycomb SSP. These boxes are pre-ordering around $450.
Each box contains 12 packs with five cards per pack and offers three autographs or memorabilia cards, seven inserts or insert parallels, nine unnumbered base parallels, and five numbered base parallels.
Insert sets include Equalizers, Select Future, Unstoppable, and the new Snapshots, while collectors can also chase case-hit inserts like Stained Glass, Artistic Impressions, Visionary, and Team Badges.
Autograph and memorabilia hits feature players such as Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, and Nico Williams, making Select a key release for La Liga collectors.
2024/25 Panini Origins Basketball continues its focus on bold designs and rookie-driven content. Each box contains one pack with seven cards, offering a mix of two autographs or memorabilia cards, two parallels, two base cards, and one insert for $275.
The autograph lineup includes Rookie Jersey Autographs, Elevation Signatures, and Universal Autographs, featuring One-of-One parallels and the new Tessellated parallel.
Tiger Eyes SSP inserts return with new variations like Saber Tooth Tiger Eyes and White Tiger Eyes, while Origin Stories debuts as a Hobby-exclusive insert.
Collectors can also chase Six Star Signatures and Rookie Auto Booklet Patch cards, as well as new Hobby-exclusive autograph sets like Blue Moon Signatures and Dual Signatures.
Orignination Memorabilia and One-of-One Logoman cards add another layer of chase-worthy content.
Although unlicensed, the $150 release price makes 2024 Panini Select Baseball a fairly attractive, fun rip (attractive referring to price, not the cards).
It features a mix of past, present, and future stars. Each box contains 12 packs with five cards per pack, offering two autographs, one memorabilia card, 12 parallels, and nine inserts.
Autograph content includes Dual Signatures and Autographed Memorabilia cards, with players such as Bobby Witt Jr. and Albert Pujols.
Collectors can also chase the Ultra-Rare Color Wheel insert, featuring names like Roy Halladay and Paul Skenes, along with the Gold Vinyl Prizms, which are numbered one-of-one.
At $300/box, 2024 Panini Zenith Football continues with its signature design and a mix of rookie and veteran content.
Each box contains one pack with six cards, including one patch autograph, one additional autograph, one base card, one rookie card, and two inserts. They’re really hyping up the “A to Z” insert, but it looks awful.
Collectors can chase Rookie Patch Autographs (RPAs) featuring one to five pieces of memorabilia, numbered from 399 down to 1. The insert lineup includes Z-Team and Z-Marquee, along with a special Contenders Optic Rookie Ticket and Veteran Ticket Preview insert, limited to 24 copies.
In case you wanted more 2024 football in late March (or early April, more likely), aptly named Panini Encore has you covered.
2024 Panini Encore Football debuts as a new addition to the football card lineup. Each box contains 10 packs with six cards per pack, delivering one autograph, one memorabilia card, 10 inserts, and four numbered parallels.
The set features a 200-card base checklist, highlighting NFL superstars, legends, and rookies.
