Looking For A Nikola Jokic Rookie Card? We Think These Are The Top 10 For Investing
Nikola Jokic, also known as “The Joker,” is the best player in NBA. Yeah, we said it.
The center for the Denver Nuggets showcases a blend of skills, versatility, and basketball IQ unlike anything we have ever seen before, and his point guard passing skills and scoring prowess makes him the ultimate cheatcode. Jokic always makes the right play.
To celebrate Jokic’s first trip to the NBA finals, here’s our list of the top 10 Nikola Jokic rookie cards for investing, taking into account their popularity, scarcity, condition, and potential for future value appreciation.
Much like we’ve done with Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes, in this article we are ranking the top 10 Nikola Jokic rookie cards. But there’s a catch: Jokic was drafted in 2014 by the Denver Nuggets, but he didn’t come to the NBA from Serbia until 2015-16.
And even then, the late draft pick wasn’t on the hobby’s radar, so he doesn’t have a lot of rookie cards. That makes owning Jokic rookies even more special… and valuable.
Please note: to make for a more “collectible” list, I didn’t include 1 of 1s or any absurdly low-numbered cards. Also note that a rare, numbered parallel of any of the cards on this list would also be considered a better investment than the common variation. For example, a silver Donruss Rated Rookie parallel is better than the base.
10. 2015-16 Panini Excalibur #199 Rookie Card
With its medieval-themed design, the Excalibur rookie card stands out among other Jokic rookie cards. Although less high-end than some of the other cards on this list, its affordability and unique aesthetic make it a fun card to collect and hold.
9. 2015-16 Panini Crown Royale Silhouettes RC Auto
This won’t be anybody’s top pick for something as rare as a /99 Jokic rookie auto, but it’s still a really nice-looking card.
There’s also a prime parallel with a really amazing-looking patch if you’re really looking to go big. But if you’re spending big on a Jokic rookie card, there are better options. Stay tuned.
8. 2015-16 Panini Revolution #134 Rookie Card
The Revolution Rookie Card boasts a vibrant and cosmic design, setting it apart from other Jokic rookie cards (seriously, let’s acknowledge that Revolution has some of the coolest-looking cards despite being the cheapest product).
The card’s eye-catching appeal and unique visual elements attract collectors who appreciate unconventional card designs. It’s more affordable than more of the cards on this list, broadening the appeal.
7. 2015-16 Donruss #341 Rated Rookie Card
The Donruss Rated Rookie card lands at number seven because it’s the most budget-friendly option on this list.
Featuring a clean design and iconic Rated Rookie logo, this card is as simple and eye-catching as Jokic’s game. The Donruss brand has a strong following in the sports card community, and the Rated Rookie subset holds a special place in the hearts of collectors.
With its widespread availability and affordability, the Donruss Rated Rookie card serves as a popular entry-level investment option. Bonus points if you grab a parallel.
6. 2015-16 Panini Prizm #335 Base Rookie Card
While the Silver Prizm variant of Jokic’s rookie card garners significant attention, the base version of the Panini Prizm Rookie Card remains a popular choice for collectors and investors alike who want some Jokic exposure without paying four figures.
Its widespread availability and affordability make it a solid entry-level investment option. While not as rare or premium as some other cards on this list, the base Prizm Rookie Card is still highly sought after, making it an excellent starting point for collectors or investors with a limited budget.
5. 2015-16 Panini Select #162 Rookie Card – Premier Level
As we’ve written about before, the Panini Select series offers basketball card enthusiasts multiple levels of rarity and parallel versions.
Jokic’s rookie card is the Premier Level in this set (again, he didn’t have a ton of rookie cards and wasn’t a big name), and it comes in parallels that include Silver, Tie-Dye, and Gold. Get the parallels if you can, but these cards are hard to find as is — even at the base level.
4. 2015-16 Panini Immaculate Collection Rookie Patch Autograph
This one was tough and has an argument to be #3 because it’s a more high-end card… but it’s not as iconic. Immaculate lives up to its name, offering collectors a white-glove experience.
The card offers a clean design, an autograph, and a game-used patch. Limited in production, it has seen strong demand in the hobby. If you’re lucky enough to have one of these, you can rightfully argue it should be higher on my list.
3. 2015-16 Panini Flawless Nikola Jokic Rookie Card
The Flawless brand is synonymous with premium sports cards, and Jokic’s rookie card in this series lives up to the name.
Featuring an exquisite design and a diamond, the Flawless Rookie Patch Autograph card is considered a gem (boom, pun) in the basketball card market.
Collectors and investors covet the combination of high-quality materials, autographs, and a limited supply, making this card an attractive option for those seeking a top-tier Jokic rookie card to add to their investment portfolio. The downside? It’s the rarest on this list, numbered to just 20.
2. 2015-16 National Treasures Rookie Autograph #152
This is probably the “best” Jokic rookie card, but it’s much harder to collect than number one on this list, so I cautiously place it at number two.
The National Treasures Rookie Patch Autograph features an on-card signature and a game-worn patch, a flagship staple for this premium product. Numbered to just 99, this card holds immense value among collectors.
The combination of on-card Jokic’s auto and the prestigious National Treasures brand makes it the most expensive Jokic rookie on the planet.
1. 2015-16 Panini Prizm #335 Silver Prizm Rookie Card (or other parallels)
The Panini Prizm series is highly regarded in the sports card collecting community, and the Silver Prizm parallel is particularly sought after. The Jokic silver prizm has skyrocketed over the last few seasons and a parallel version of his most popular rookie card makes this a must-have for any serious Jokic collector or investor.
The card’s scarcity and increasing demand contribute to its long-term investment potential, as it is likely to continue climbing in value in value as Jokic’s career progresses.
The bottomline on investing in Nikola Jokic rookie cards
Nikola Jokic will be in the league for a long time and is well on his way to a hall-of-fame career. While his cards are already expensive, investing in them now could still lead to long-term returns.
