The Best Sports Card Releases In February 2025

February has a good mix of products from all major sports, and in this article we’ll look at a few of the biggest.

As always, here are the CardLines picks for cards to watch in February 2024. And, also as always, a feature on this list doesn’t mean it’s a must-buy. We’re sharing honest thoughts on all products.

Please note: the release schedules are very fluid and move frequently. These dates are not guaranteed (and with so many releases tentatively scheduled for February, it’s a safe bet many of these will not release this month).

Noteworthy sports card releases for February:

2024 Panini Donruss Football Hobby (02/05)

Releasing at $400, the 2024 Panini Donruss Football Hobby Box returns as a staple of the collecting season. With a massive 400-card base set featuring 300 veterans and legends alongside 100 Rated Rookies, this product offers plenty of variety for collectors.

Each hobby box includes 18 packs with 10 cards per pack, delivering 1 autograph, 1 memorabilia card, 18 Rated Rookies, 12 parallels, and 42 inserts. Popular subsets such as Gridiron Kings and Rated Rookies make a return, while collectors can also chase premium inserts like Gridiron Marvels, Downtown!, and Crunch Time.

With a blend of rookies, established stars, and iconic case hits, Donruss Football remains a go-to release for both set builders and collectors hunting for short prints and autographs.

2024 Panini Photogenic Football Hobby (02/05)

2024 Panini Photogenic Football brings a photography-driven approach to the $350 hobby box, featuring some of the most striking and unique images of NFL superstars, legends, and rookies.

Each box contains 10 packs with 5 cards per pack, delivering 1 autograph, 10 inserts, 5 rookies, and 4 parallels. Collectors can chase inserts such as Progressions, Rookie Pix, Troops Tribute, For the Cure, Draft Snapshots, Rookie Introductions, and A Different View.

Additionally, ultra-rare SSP inserts like In-Motion, Avatars, and The Shoe Game add extra excitement to the product.

2024 Panini Rookies & Stars Football (02/07)

The 2024 Rookies & Stars Football set delivers a compelling mix of cards with six packs per box, each containing 10 cards. This 200-card base set combines a vibrant selection of both rookies and veteran players, offering a design that honors the product’s history while embracing the future, and boxes are pre-selling for $299.

Popular inserts like Crusade, Thrillers, and Stellar Rookies are featured, with the added excitement of autograph parallels.

Collectors can anticipate finding two autographs, two memorabilia cards, five numbered base or rookie cards, 02 inserts or insert parallels, 02 rookie cards, and six Optichrome inserts or insert parallels in each box.

2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Basketball (02/12)

2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Basketball Hobby Box continues the tradition of delivering some of the most sought-after cards in women’s basketball and indeed the biggest Cailtin Clark cards of the year.

Featuring a deep checklist of WNBA superstars, rookies, and legends, this set includes a variety of colorful parallels, autographs, and short-printed inserts (but let’s be real, a shallower checklist might make this product even more appealing).

Each box contains 12 packs with 12 cards per pack, offering 2 autographs, 24 Prizm parallels, and 10 inserts. Collectors can chase the super short-print Color Blast insert, a fan-favorite case hit, along with new Prizm parallels such as Pink Velocity (#’d/79) and Black Velocity (#’d/39).

With an exciting mix of established stars and rising talent, Prizm WNBA remains a must-have for fans and collectors alike.

2024/25 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee Hockey (02/12)

The 2024/25 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee Hockey set continues its tradition of offering a deep and expansive 600-card base set, featuring 100 high-series cards dedicated to 2023-24 All-Stars and 2024-25 Marquee Rookies.

Each hobby box contains 18 packs with 10 cards per pack, delivering a mix of retro variations, parallels, inserts, and rare chase cards. Collectors can expect to find:

  • Three parallels of the full base set, including the new Hobby-exclusive Orange Border parallel (#’d/25)
  • Four serially-numbered parallels exclusive to high-series cards
  • 1-of-1 Printing Plates from both the base set and Retro Variation set

Popular Hobby-exclusive inserts return, including O-Pee-Chee Playing Cards (4 per box on average), while collectors can also chase rare finds such as O-Pee-Chee Patches and 3-D Marquee Rookies.

2025 Topps Series 1 Baseball Hobby & Jumbo (02/12)

Topps Series 1 is set to release in approximately 113 formats, including a “Fun Mega Box” and a “Monster Box.” I was personally hoping there’d be a fun mega box and just a mega box. Same cards, less fun.

But as always, the big draw will be hobby and jumbo boxes. Hobby Boxes contain 240 cards and deliver 1 autograph or relic card per box for $99. Jumbo boxes double the price up to $199, but include 400 cards with 3 hits, including “at least 1 autograph card” (historically, it’s been 2 autos guaranteed).

This is the first release for the 2025 baseball season and is poised to be a fun one. Be sure to follow Cardlines for a full breakdown of top rookies as it draws nearer.

2024 Topps UFC Finest Hobby Box (02/14)

Releasing for $165, Topps Finest UFC returns with its signature chrome designs, vibrant parallels, and exciting autographs for fight fans and collectors alike. Featuring a 300-card base set, this release offers a mix of UFC veterans, rising contenders, and top prospects, all available in various colorful refractors and tech parallels.

Each hobby box contains 6 packs with 10 cards per pack, delivering 2 autographs, 2 refractors, 2 base card rares and 4 inserts.

With new case-hit chases and a strong lineup of signatures and parallels, Topps Finest UFC provides an action-packed collecting experience for MMA enthusiasts.

2024 Panini Illusions Football (02/19)

The 2024 Panini Illusions Football Hobby Box brings its signature holographic designs and unique content back for another season – no collectors are excited about this release, but it consistently produces a few intriguing cards.

The 100-card base set, printed on holographic filmboard, provides a visually striking foundation for the product.

Collectors can look forward to 3 autographs, 2 memorabilia cards, and 5 numbered parallels per box. Highlights include acetate inserts such as Illusionist, Clutch, Abracadabra, and Mystique, alongside patch autograph sets featuring rookies, current stars, and retired legends.

Illusions Football continues to deliver a mix of innovation and collector appeal, making it a standout release in the 2024 lineup.

2024/25 Panini Prizm Basketball (02/19)

If Prizm releases in February, this will be the most timely release for Panini’s flagship product yet. Perhaps the unlicensed Topps cards are putting more pressure on Panini to get their mid-tier products out on time, and if that’s the case, maybe they’re doing the hobby good in another way.

Either way, the 2024/25 Panini Prizm Basketball Hobby Box continues its legacy as one of the hobby’s most popular products. Known for its vibrant designs and extensive parallels, this year’s Prizm delivers new and familiar features.

Each box contains 12 packs with 12 cards per pack, offering 2 autographs, 22 Prizms, and 10 inserts. The autograph lineup includes sets like Signatures, Rookie Signatures, Sensational Signatures, and the new Prizmatrix. Parallels include fan favorites alongside new Hobby-exclusive options like Prizms Skewed (#’d/249) and Basketball (#’d/225).

Collectors can also chase inserts in sets like Fireworks, Luck of the Lottery, Kaleidoscopic, and the all-new Talisman. SSP inserts Prizmania and the debuting Groovy add an extra layer of excitement to this highly anticipated release.

Prizm Basketball remains a must-have for fans of colorful parallels and sought-after rookie cards.

2024 Topps Chrome Football Hobby (02/19)

Making its long-awaited return after nearly a decade, 2024 Topps Chrome Football is back at $400  with a fresh lineup of top rookies, veteran stars, and legends of the game.

This reboot of a fan-favorite set brings high-quality chrome designs, a stacked checklist, and an extensive lineup of parallels–and while there are going to be autographs of the top rookie QBs who didn’t sign with Panini, these unlicensed cards will still look fairly… naked(?) without the team logo.

Each hobby box includes 2 autographs, 12 refractors, 9 inserts, and 4 numbered base card or insert parallels, while every case guarantees one case-hit insert card.

Collectors can chase the iconic SuperFractor 1/1s, as well as Hobby-exclusive parallels like Camo Wave (#’d), Gold Wave (#’d/50), and Red Wave (#’d/5). New additions include Magenta Speckle (#’d/399), Purple Speckle (#’d/275), and Aqua Sonar (#’d/199).

With a loaded 300-card base set and various exciting parallels, Topps Chrome Football makes a strong comeback and is set to be one of the most anticipated football releases of the year.

2024 Panini Spectra Football (02/21)

Releasing at $900, 2024 Panini Spectra Football continues its tradition of delivering some of the most visually stunning cards in the hobby. Known for its vibrant designs and premium content, this year’s edition brings an even stronger lineup of rookie autographs, memorabilia cards, and sought-after inserts.

Each hobby box contains 4 packs with 4 cards per pack, offering 4 autographs, 4 memorabilia cards, 7 base/parallels, and 1 insert. Spectra highlights both all-time legends and today’s biggest stars, making it a strong choice for collectors chasing premium content.

With a mix of rookie-driven content and eye-catching parallels, Spectra Football remains one of the most exciting high-end releases of the season.

2023/24 Upper Deck Skybox E-X 2000 Hockey (02/27)

2023/24 Upper Deck Skybox E-X 2000 Hockey set revives the nostalgia of the iconic 1996-97 E-X 2000 brand, bringing its bold designs, die-cuts, and holographic elements back to the hobby in a modern hockey release.

The 150-card base set includes 100 veteran players and 50 rookies, complemented by a mix of classic and new inserts. Collectors can chase the Autographics insert, featuring on-card autographs of current stars and legends, as well as Autographics – Rookies showcasing the top young talent from the 2023-24 season.

Each box contains 24 packs with 2 cards per pack, delivering 24 base cards, 12 rookie cards, 2 base or rookie parallels and 8 inserts, which may include Index Movers, Hall or Nothing, or Star Date 3000

With die-cut inserts like Hall or Nothing, E-Xceptional, and Net Assets, plus exciting new additions like Double Helix and Reverberation, this set brings a unique mix of retro appeal and modern collectibility to the hockey card market.
