Let’s have a bit of a wider selection of sports. Let’s also have one non-sports card every week and one oddball card.

2009-10 Topps Stephen Curry Gold Parallel Rookie RC #/2009 #321 Warriors Z872

Despite the high volume of basketball cards I’ve been featuring in these articles, Curry hasn’t made a mention yet. That ends today.

The Warriors are looking to put away the Grizzlies – especially after a knee injury from Ja – and that positions Steph to match up with a Suns team (presumably, although they’re tied 2-2) that is looking a bit more vulnerable than assumed. So, imagine if Curry and the Warriors could make another Finals run after missing the playoffs next year? Collectors would love the story, and it would only boost his value even higher.

But, even if the Warriors fall short, this Gold rookie /2009 is a phenomenal card of an all-time great. But do note it’s a draw card, and these have a tremendous problem with chipping on the back’s black border, so don’t expect to be buying a PSA 10.

2020 Select Justin Herbert RC Field Level Orange Prizm Die Cut PSA 10

This card is beautiful for several reasons.

If you don’t know Select Football very well, note that there are three different rarity tiers. This card – the Field Level tier – is the rarest one. On top of that, this is an orange parallel and a PSA 10. Keeps getting better and better.

But something else makes this card special to me – opportunity. The Chargers have added reinforcements to their roster, and this is the year that I think they will make the leap from playoff contender to Super Bowl contender. Herbert is a Top 5 quarterback already (better than Burrow – you heard it here first), and an improved defense and offense line will help the Chargers make a deep run. This could be an excellent off-season investment.

 2011 Topps Update Mike Trout DIAMOND Anniversary RC Rookie PSA 10 GEM MINT

The Holy Grail of Mike Trout rookies. Okay, maybe not that crazy since it’s not an autograph or numbered. However, a PSA 10 of the 2011 Topps Update rookie diamond parallel is incredibly rare and valuable. Trout is an all-timer, and this is perhaps the single most iconic baseball card of recent years. Naturally, therefore, any collector would drool over this one.

At this point in Trout’s career, this is more of a long-term investment. He’s done so much that another great season won’t significantly boost the value of this card, but ten years down the line, you’ll be more than happy you picked this up when you did.

Weekly Oddity: BGS 9 Ja Morant Select RC Auto

This card is a bargain waiting to happen. Why? Because the title of the auction is “sports card.” That’s it. No names. No search terms. Nothing.

The card itself is a Ja Morant Select rookie jersey autograph red wave prizm, and it’s graded a 9 with subs that have it just a breath away from a BGS 9.5. These sell consistently for about $1,000, and the one linked above is at $0.99 (note the reserve on it, unfortunately). So, I put a bid but encourage you to outbid me!

What price will this card fetch? What’s the reserve price? Unfortunately, these questions remain unanswered, but if the reserve is low enough and we can get enough bidders, this could be a phenomenal pickup for one lucky collector.

Non-Sports: PSA 10 GEM MINT Charizard VSTAR 174/172 Brilliant Stars Pokemon Card CS10-994

Charizard is the titan of Pokemon card collecting, and this Brillant Stars VStar card is an excellent addition for any Pokemon collector. The PSA 10 grade is as good as it gets for this newly released Pokemon gem, so add it to your watch list if you’re looking for a potential Pokemon hold.

Why should you invest in Charizard? Because he’ll never tear his ACL, retire, or get canceled on Twitter for making offhanded comments.
