Out of all the candidates, Joe Burrow seems most likely to be the quarterback of the future. However, his prices are already predictably high. So is this a good time to buy in? Read our Joe Burrow card investment outlook to find out.
One of Joe’s cards made our top ten cards of 2021. So, we believe there is money to be made off Burrow and his cards.
Although his family was full of defensive football stars, Joe Burrow became a quarterback when his youth football team did not have anyone to play the position. Growing up in Iowa and North Dakota before finally landing in Athens, Ohio, where he would go to Athens High School and immediately become a top-rated prospect.
By his sophomore year, Joe Burrow became the starting quarterback for the Varsity football team at Athens High School. At just 15 years old, he led them to an 11-2 record and two playoff wins. Over his three years as a starter, he went 37-4 (16-0 in conference play) and eight playoff wins.
The four-star recruit committed to play at Ohio State. He knew that he was going to have to fight for playing time because Ohio State had J.T. Barrett starting, and Dwayne Haskins set to take over the offense once J.T. left for the NFL. After redshirting his first year, Joe was able to graduate from Ohio State in just three years and was allowed to transfer and play right away as a graduate transfer.
After meeting with LSU coaches to watch film, he decided to play at LSU. In the 2018 season, he led LSU to a 10-3 record, including a fantastic win over UCF in the Fiesta Bowl. He ended up passing for 2,894 yards, 16 touchdowns, seven rushing touchdowns, and only threw five interceptions. By the end of the 2019 season, Joe Burrow had so many accomplishments; he needs an entire chart showing all of the NCAA and SEC records. If that weren’t enough, Joe Burrow would win almost every award they give out, including the Heisman Trophy. Soon Burrow was the hottest NFL prospect since Hershel Walker.
After being drafted first overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, Joe Burrow became the only QB from that draft class to be named the starter before week one. Since he became today’s household name, he has constantly lived up to the hype and surpassed it.
When the scouting reports were finished, there were not many negative things about Joe Burrow. They had to find weaknesses in his game, and they could not find many. The worst they could say about him was he lacked arm strength, LSU’s offensive scheme made it easier for him to look good, took sacks he didn’t have to take, there is just a one-year sample size to use, and he would be a 23-year old rookie.
The weaknesses didn’t matter because his strengths were incredible. Burrow’s tremendous IQ, both in football and academically, was something scouts loved because he could quickly see defenses and break them down. They also loved how calm he remained under pressure.
In the first 10 games of his NFL career, Joe Burrow proved he was worth every penny the Bengals paid the rookie from LSU. He ran away with the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award until Week 11. Then, he would tear his ACL and MCL, and his rookie season came to a crashing halt.
Although we did not get to see him finish his rookie season, Joe Burrow had already shown what he could do, and other teams could see his potential to become great in a few years. However, in classic Joe Burrow fashion, instead of waiting for years three or four, he showed up in 2021 and drastically improved. He even led the Bengals to a 10-6 record and got them back into the playoffs.
He was able to take everything he learned from his rookie season and work on it for 2021. Of course, it helped that the Bengals drafted Ja’Marr Chase, Joe Burrows stud wide receiver at LSU two years prior. That relationship has proven to be brilliant. His confidence rose, and his ability to slow the game down and make better decisions.
In 2021, Burrow surprised everyone by improving significantly after just one year. He even finished the 2020 season with a completion percentage of 70.4%. So, after showing everyone he was no longer bothered by that torn ACL in 2020, the future for Joe Burrow is once again bright as can be.
His incredibly high football IQ will always help him be a star in this league. There are very few bad things you can say about Joe Burrow, and it appears that he will be around the NFL for many more years to come. So do not be shocked if he wins a Super Bowl along the way.

Since the only reason, you are here is to figure out if Joe Burrow is worth the investment, maybe we should give you some reasons to help you make your decision.
We already know Burrow is a great player. But just what makes him a good investment?
Joe Burrow’s football IQ is just starting to become a national headline, but LSU fans and Cincinnati fans have seen it since day one. He is a hard worker, but he was born with superior intelligence, including understanding things faster than others. That is a unique gift that may yet make him a generational talent.
Part of Joe Burrow’s superior intelligence is understanding his weaknesses and fixing them quickly. For example, he knew that he had to improve against the blitz, so he worked on it the past two years. Now that he has, his ability to throw the ball accurately outside the pocket is a skill that makes him nearly impossible to defend.
Ja’Marr Chase has emerged as one of the best wide receivers in football. Renewing his college partnership with Burrow, this season was only a taste of what this duo can do. Thanks to Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase had 81 receptions, 1,455 yards, and 13 touchdowns as a rookie wide receiver.
So Burrow is faolous. But are there reasons to avoid investing?
Although Joe Burrow is an easy choice for investing in today, the prices for his cards are already pretty high. Even the worst sets are still selling his base rookies for $5 to $10. However, that is also an advantage. The prices make you wonder if his cards can increase more in value.
No matter how great Joe Burrow plays or how intelligent he is, he still plays for the Cincinnati Bengals. Since their inaugural season in 1968, the Bengals have only made the playoffs 14 times and have lost in the first game eight of those times. They have no Hall of Fame quarterbacks and are considered heartbreaking because they always blow it in the playoffs.
Before tearing his ACL and MCL in his rookie season, Joe Burrow had never dealt with such a high-profile injury before. There is no way to predict the future of a player’s knee after tearing his ACL because everyone is different. He could have become even more vulnerable to tearing it in the future. Hopefully, he doesn’t, but that will always be in the back of the minds of collectors.
The NFL has not seen a QB like Joe Burrow since the day Peyton Manning arrived in Indianapolis and changed the franchise’s culture. Joe Burrow’s superior intelligence and obsession with the game of football make him a player to believe in for many years to come. He has a chance to change the way people look at the Cincinnati Bengals and has already done so much in just a brief period.
Remember, he is just in his second year after having his rookie season cut short from an ACL tear. But he has still shown us what he is capable of as he has taken every weakness of his and improved on it. Joe Burrow is a definite buy, and his quality will also lift the value of 2020 boxes.
