The 2023 edition of Topps Finest drops in the first week of July. If it feels like we just had a Topps Finest release, it’s because 2022 Topps Finest was delayed all the way until January of 2023.
Six short months later, 2023 Topps Finest gets us back on a reasonable release timeframe and brings new designs, new inserts and autographs, and a fresh batch of rookie cards for collectors to chase.

The release date for the 2023 Topps Finest is scheduled for July 7, 2023 (subject to change).
2023 Topps Finest hobby packs contain 5 cards per pack. Hobby boxes contain 12 packs, in the form of two 6-pack mini-boxes. Cases contain 8 hobby boxes per case.
Each hobby box contains two chrome autographs per box. Hobby boxes are pre-selling for $220-225.
The 2023 Topps Finest base set consists of 125 total cards. These fall into several categories. The first 100 cards are the main set, consisting of MLB veterans and rookies. Cards number 101-125 make the up the Extended Base Set and are Short Prints (SP).
The design offers bold colors, bright designs, and lots of Chrome on premium stock. This both falls in line with prior years but also offers just enough updates to make it feel new.

The 2023 Topps Finest base set is complemented by a rainbow of Refractor parallels, which fall about four per box and range from the fairly easy to pull all the way to the 1/1.

Inspired by the design of the 2000-01 Topps Finest Basketball insert set, this set commemorates the biggest stars from the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Seeded 1:4 packs.
Highlighting players who make headlines with their amazing performances. Seeded 1:6 packs.
A tougher pull offers players from some of baseball’s biggest rivalries. These die-cut cards are seeded 1:48 packs.
All three of the above inserts also come in a number of parallel versions: Gold Refractor (/50), Red Refractor (/5) and Superfractor (1/1).
Numbered to only five copies each, these highlight some of the biggest stars and hottest rookies in the game. 1/1 Superfractor versions are also available.

These dual-signature cards are sure to be popular with fans, as they are autographed versions of the Finest Rivalries Die-Cut inserts, and limited to only 10 copies each.

These sale prices suggest that Topps Finest are best opened, not held long term. These feel like a fun product to break, and that appears to be the correct play from an investment standpoint.
From a singles standpoint, some of the lowest population autographs of top players, when in PSA 10 slabs, have sold for over $1,000. Obviously, most cards sell for significantly less.
It’s clear that there is some potential for good payback on singles, however, again suggesting again that the right path here is to break these. This appears to be the right move for both enjoyment and potential profit.
2023 Topps Finest Baseball offers a fun mix of inserts, short prints, autographs, and variations, plus a pile of parallels. The cards come on premium stock and offer bright and colorful designs. At a price point of a semi-premium offering, there’s a lot to like here.
