2024 Panini Select Baseball value

2024 Panini Select Baseball is an unlicensed product that brings the hits with a mix of prospects, former stars, and few current MLB stars.

But does the product represent a good candidate to buy-and-hold unopened? Let’s see what recent comp prices for hobby boxes from the last few years can tell us about the potential for 2024.

YearRecent Hobby Box Comp Price
2024$160-170
2023$130-180
2022$95-180
2021$100-125

Recent comps are a bit all over the place for some of these products. Based on that fact and the prices compared to release prices, these don’t appear to be the best candidates to buy-and-hold unopened. You can do worse, but the price ranges should give you pause.

What about in terms of singles? What can a look at recent sales of 2023 Panini Select Baseball singles tell us about the potential for 2024?

A 1/1 Jackson Merrill Black Finite Patch Auto sold for around $1,000. An Elly De La Cruz Cracked Ice Patch Auto /23 sold for $275. A Jackson Holliday Tie Dye Prizm /25 in PSA 10 sold for $250. Prices go down from there.

So, the high end doesn’t appear all that high for these. However, for a lower cost, unlicensed boxes, they do appear to be in line with expectations.

2024 Panini Select Baseball pros & cons

Every product has pros and cons when deciding whether to purchase or break them. What are some of the pros and cons of 2024 Panini Select Baseball?

Pros

  • With two autographs, a relic, and plenty of color in every hobby box, these make for an interesting and fun break.
  • The $160-170 price point makes these a lower-cost box in today’s hobby, making them an option for collectors on a budget or just looking for a low-cost break.

Cons

  • The unlicensed nature of the product and the lack of (many) major league stars keeps the value in check. This means the hits are unlikely to be life-changing, although they align with the box price.
  • Will this 2024 product not releasing until almost 25% of the way into 2025 hurt demand?

Final thoughts on 2024 Panini Select Baseball

2024 Panini Select Baseball is an unlicensed product offering multiple tiers of chase and lots of color to go with two autographs and a relic per lower-priced box. The unlicensed nature of the product will keep prices of the hit in check, but there’s still some fun to be had here.
