The Best Sports Card Auctions Of November 2024

The Best Sports Card Auctions of November 2024

November is an exciting time of year. The World Series is either wrapping up or has just finished. The winter sports are very much in focus.

The weather may be cooling off and the world is going into holiday mode, but the sports card auction action continues to stay active. This month, there have been many auctions covering a wide range of hobby niches.

But what auctions are going on this month? What are the lots worth chasing? And what are the best sports card auctions of November 2024? Let’s kick off our holiday shopping with some sports card auction goodness!

Goldin 2024 October Legends Elite Auction

Kicking off the month is Goldin Auctions October Legends Elite Auction, which wraps up on November 2nd. The auction has some unique historical items and a bunch of more modern cards than you’ll find in many auctions.

Items of Note

Last month, the auction highlight was the ball that Shohei Ohtani hit for his 50th home run to become the first member of the 50/50 club. The home run ball he hit later that night for #51 on the year is available this month.

There’s a lot more to like this month. How about the agreement that Pete Rose signed when he was banned from baseball?

The high-dollar modern cards get a spotlight here, including a 2003-04 Topps Chrome Gold Refractor LeBron James RC (#/50) in a BGS 9 slab, the 2018 Bowman Chrome Orange Refractor Shohei Ohtani (#/25) in BGS Pristine/Black Label 10, and a 2017 Panini Flawless Rookie Patch Autograph (RPA) Silver Patrick Mahomes II (#/20) in PSA 10.

You’ll also find a 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson Rookie Card in PSA 10 that’s from the Dmitri Young collection, a 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket Autograph #144 Tom Brady in PSA A / DNA 10, and much more. Graded magazines, unopened materials, and tickets and passes are among the many items worth a closer look in this auction.

Clean Sweep $5 Reserve Auction

Clean Sweep Auctions brings us their $5 Reserve Auction, which wraps up on November 6. The main attraction here is baseball, and old baseball. Items that don’t fall into those two categories are few and far between.

Items of Note

The old cardboard stretches all the way back to the 1880’s, including 1887 N172 Old Judge and 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter. Most are in fairly rough condition so not museum pieces.

Pre-War cards and other items make up a good percentage of this auction. Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg is well represented, with a 1936 Goudey in PSA 4, a 1938 Goudey in PSA 3, and a 1941 Play Ball in PSA 5. Hall of Famer Jimmy Foxx? Check out the 1933 Goudey in PSA 1 or the 1934 World Wide Gum in PSA 2.

You’ll find plenty of iconic post-war cards, many in collector grades as opposed to top grades that sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Examples include a 1953 Topps Willie Mays in SGC 2, a 1954 Topps Aaron in PSA 3, and a 1963 Topps Pete Rose in PSA 4, just to name a few.

Mickey Mantle fans will find plenty of iconic cards of “The Mick”, including a PSA 5 1955 Topps, a PSA 5 1957 Topps, a PSA 5 1958 Topps, a 1956 Topps in PSA 4, and more.

If you’re a fan of collector grade vintage, this auction has a lot to like, and is well worth a look.

Items of Note

As noted above, 1950s and 1960s vintage baseball is a good percentage of this auction. There are many, many great lots here that are well worth a look, but I’ll share a few that jump out at me.

There’s a 1967 Topps Twin Terrors featuring Killebrew and Allison in PSA 10 that is an amazing example of the card. There’s a 1956 Topps Bob Feller in a SGC 7, a 1961 Topps Billy Williams in PSA 8, and a 1971 Topps Ted Simmons RC in PSA 7. The 1964 Topps AL Bombers in PSA 8 features Mantle, Maris, Kaline, and Norm Cash.

There are also a selection of basketball and football cards, with a smattering of other sports. You’ll also find memorabilia, non-sports, and much more.

Classic vintage cards include a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle in SGC 9, a 1973 Topps Mike Schmidt RC in PSA 10, a 1984-85 Star Michael Jordan in BGS 9, and a 1986-87 Jordan in PSA 10.

You’ll also find the only PSA 10 copy of the 1990 Topps Frank Thomas “No Name on Front” error card and a rare PSA 10 1965 Topps Steve Carlton rookie card.

Non-sports items include a circa 1939 Pinocchio Director’s Sketch book, a 1967 Beatles-used Ringo Starr drum set, and a rare 1987 NES Nintendo Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out! Cartridge, just to name a few. There’s even a Steve Jobs job application from 1973 in a PSA 9 slab.
