An introduction to 2024 Mosaic Football

The 2024 set is set to release on 11/27/24 and maintains the signature Mosaic style with an upgraded checklist of parallels and inserts. However, one significant change in 2024 is the exclusivity of certain autographs due to Fanatics’ agreements with top 2024 draft picks.

Collectors can still find rookie cards, but the absence of autographs from some of the biggest names may impact the set’s investment appeal—more on that in the next section.

Each box is preordering for $549.95 and each box contains 10 packs of 15 cards, which include:

• 2 Autograph
• 15 Mosaic Prizms
• 5 Silver Prizms
• 20 Inserts

A few red flags with Mosaic 2024

Like every 2024 Panini football product, there are a few caveats that come with 2024 Mosaic.

I will be saying this in every 2024 product review I write: many of the top 2024 draft picks are working exclusively with Fanatics on autographs. These players include Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, AD Mitchell, Malik Nabers, Brendan Rice, Jayden Daniels, Brian Thomas Jr., Xavier Worthy, and Rome Odunze, to name a few.

These athletes agreed to no more autos with Panini, but they could still have some in this set.

The redeeming aspect for Mosaic is that the autographs aren’t the biggest value drivers, but rather the Mosaic parallels.

So while there might not be autographs of Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, or Drake Maye, there’s almost certainly going to be low-numbered Mosaic parallels that could be worth hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars. This alone makes 2024 Mosaic the best release on the NFL calendar thus far.

Unpacking the 2024 Mosaic Football release

The 2024 Mosaic Football set maintains its reputation for vibrant, parallel-driven design, featuring a wide array of the NFL’s prominent stars, emerging rookies, and notable legends.

This year’s release follows a familiar approach with numerous parallels across the base set, catering to both seasoned collectors and casual fans looking for variety within each box.

While some notable autographs are absent due to exclusivity agreements, the autograph lineup still offers a range of players with multiple parallels and an expanded checklist, including a mix of rookies and veterans.

For collectors interested in case-hit SSPs, the 2024 Mosaic set includes Micro Mosaic, Stained Glass, and Money inserts. These cards may appeal to set builders and collectors of rare inserts.

Investing in a sealed box of 2024 Mosaic Football

Here’s the value of the last few years based on recent sales (as of 11/10/24)

2020 is the first year of Mosaic and also the most expensive, but that value is propped up by Hurts, Burrow, Allen, Love and Tua rookies. 

Typically 2022 is the lowest-priced box, too, largely because the weaker rookie class, but Brock Purdy’s managed to carry 2022 Mosaic ahead of 2021 (while Trevor Lawrence struggles).

Still, this year’s washed-out, watered-down product doesn’t have half the rookie autograph potential of the previous year’s (even though 2023 doesn’t include CJ Stroud autos, either).

So if you want to make money long-term with this product as a hold, don’t buy this box anywhere near the $550 mark. 

Investing in 2024 Mosaic Football singles

If you want to invest in singles, the best cards would be numbered mosaic parallels and rookie autographs. If you can buy raw and get them graded, bonus points for that. But remember that Mosaic is the 4th most popular optichrome product, so these will cool down after the other products release. 

If the other optichrome products are released this year, Mosaic has a fairly low ceiling of potential. But if not, these could ultimately be some of the biggest chase cards on the market.

Bottom line: Should you rip, hold or pass on 2024 Mosaic Football?

Mosaic isn’t the most attractive investment, but it’s not an option for short-term flips or investments.
