2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball value

2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball is a space-themed product that brings wild designs on premium stock. But are these a good candidate to buy-and-hold unopened? Let’s see what recent comps for hobby boxes from the last few years can suggest.

YearRecent Hobby Box Comp Price
2024$300/$400
2023$370-415
2022$375-500

With a short history and some rather large ranges within a single year, it’s difficult to come to any huge conclusions. It does appear that these boxes do tend to held most or all of their drop price value, with the potential for some gains. The long-term is obviously cloudy for this newer product.

What about in terms of singles? What can a look at recent sales of 2023 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball tell us about the potential for 2024?

The high water mark was all about Corbin Carroll. Many of the cards sold on best offer, so the exact sale price isn’t obvious. But the following cards all sold for north of $2,000, potentially much higher: A raw Planetary Pursuit Venus, a Planetary Pursuit Pluto, and a Planetary Pursuit Neptune in a PSA 9.

Beyond Carroll, other big sellers were a Shohei Ohtani /50 Gold Interstellar auto in PSA 10, an Aaron Judge Stars in the Night Black Eclipse /10 in a PSA 10 slab, and an Ohtani Extraterrestrial Talent Autographs Orange Galactic Refractor /25 in BKT 9.5 all sold for around $2,000.

It’s clear that that rarest cards of the most iconic names in the sport can sell for a significant amount. While the odds of pulling these cards are obviously long, there is a chance at a big payoff. That’s far from guaranteed, though, so know the odds and stay in your budget.

2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball pros & cons

Every product has pros and cons when deciding whether to purchase and break them. What are some of the pros and cons of 2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball?

Pros

  • These cards are loud, glossy, and colorful. Maybe if you’re a big vintage fan, that’s not your thing, but these cards are flashy and fun. The mix of parallels and inserts only adds to the fun.
  • The potential for big hits out of a box is certainly there. The rarer cards of top names, including autographs, can sell for $2,000 or more. For a $300-400 box, that’s a solid shot at ROI.

Cons

  • Autographs are tough pulls, with no per-box guarantee, making some of the bigger hits really tough to pull.
  • With prices around $400 per box and some of the better pulls being very tough, the chance for ROI is there, but the odds of a somewhat disappointing break in terms of pure monetary value are bigger.

Final thoughts on 2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball

2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball is a loud, colorful, shiny product with a lot of parallel and insert action to enjoy. It has the makings of an enjoyable break, but as prices reach and exceed $400 per box, the chances of ROI are far from certain. That being said, if you’re a fan of shiny, ultra-modern cards and love the look of these, and your budget allows, these should be a lot of fun.
