April offers a wide mix of sports and some top brands – particularly in the first half of the month.
Here are the CardLines picks for biggest sports card releases in April 2024. And, also as always, a feature on this list doesn’t mean it’s a must-buy. We’re sharing honest thoughts on all products. Some of these brands might be included out of caution, so read the short summary with each.
Also, please note: the release schedules are very fluid and move frequently. These dates are not guaranteed. And, of course, none of the NFL releases will have CJ Stroud or Bryce Young autographs and none of the NBA releases will have Wemby autographs.
Immaculate is a high-end, roll-the-dice brand. The boxes cost $1,450 each and only include 6 cards total — 5 of which are autographed, in addition to 1 base or parallel. The product is known for a lovely mix of on-card autos and on-card patch autos and oversized memorabilia cards like Team Logos, Brand Logos, Laundry Tags, NFL Shields, and more.
If you pull one of those for a top rookie, you’ll more than make up the cost of the box. 2023 offers the new Base Cleats cards, too, which feature – you guessed it – cleats.
SP Game Used Hockey is a top annual hockey release, and this year should be no different. As the name implies, it’s a memorabilia-driven product. We don’t have a release price yet, but we do know what to look for in each box: 3 Memorabilia and/or Tech Cards, 2 Base Set and/or Insert Cards, and 1 Autograph or Premium Memorabilia Card.
While a “premium memorabilia” card might sound sexy, it’s still not an auto, so probably going to be a letdown. Some of the best cards in this set are the Draft Day Marks cards featuring rookies #’d to 35 (per letter). While we don’t have a price yet, we can assume it’ll be between $100 – $200.

As always, the focus for 2023-24 Origins Basketball is storytelling, and it’s a really great product for doing exactly that. Many of the sets are built around the idea of telling origins stories, and this product is spiced up by fun narrative threads being woven into the sets.
That said, at around $400, this box is a high-risk, high-reward rip and not a great long-term hold since it hasn’t proven to hold much value. Of the 7 cards per box, you’ll pull 1 rookie autograph, 1 other hit, 2 parallels, 1 insert and 2 base.
In other words, your rookie autograph needs to be a big one if you want any chance of stiffing a positive ROI, and without Wemby autograph potential, that’s a bit of a long shot.

Revolution is typically an early-season, low-end product and it’s most notable for not guaranteeing an autograph. That said, without Wemby autos in this year’s product, that’s not a huge loss. Instead, you can look for 4 rookies, 4 inserts, and 8 parallels.
The tiers are astrology themed, from a variety of parallels such as Groove, Fractal, Impact (#’d/149), Cosmic (#’d/99), Sunburst (#’d/75), Future Frame (#’d/60), Cubic (#’d/50), Lava (#’d/10), and Galactic. This year’s boxes also include Neutron, which is #’d/125.

Topps Heritage is a $100 box with 1 auto or relic card, which makes it a great low-end rip for the classic brand. This year’s set jumps back to the 1975 design to match a nostalgic look with modern superstars and exciting rookies.
You can also expect a box loader in every hobby box. There are also a lot of exciting variations, from black and white images, white borders, black borders, errors, color swap, missing facsimile signatures, image variation, and nickname variations.
Many of these sets play with the idea of an intentional error — something of a tribute to the history of cards and chasing these sorts of errors.

Crown Royale is a decent basketball set that will, if the release schedule holds, be completely overshadowed by Prizm’s release. Hobby boxes are pre-ordering for $475 and constrain only 1 autograph, 1 memorabilia card, and 2 inserts or parallels.
While the cards are nice, this is an exceptional risk at the price, so if you’re looking at Crown Royal, I’d suggest taking whatever you would have paid for a hobby box and buying a few nice Prizm parallels of your favorite rookie instead.
The big draw of Royale is the Kaboom card, which we’ve featured in several articles.

Donruss Soccer has become a surprising home run. Or, maybe, a surprising “goooaaaaal.” At $400/box, this is a big name soccer brand with good potential. The 200-card set has 25 Rated Rookies this year, and each box has 1 autograph, 1 memorabilia, 60 parallels, 48 inserts or inserts parallels. This is a big box, too, with 12 packs of 30 cards.
It also has the fun, bright selection of parallels that makes Donruss popular for its NFL and NBA offerings, including Kaboom!, Crunch Time, Net Marvels, Night Moves, Craftsmen, Pitch Kings and more.

After several delays, Optic Football is finally ready to hit shelves. It’s the chromium version of Donruss football and this year’s box is pre-ordering for about $850.
Apart from the price, though, most of the description above remains the same: 20 packs of 4 cards, 1 auto, 12 parallels (9 are numbered), etc. While the lack of Stroud autos hurts, this is still a great product—one we considered a Top 10 football product to invest in.
While this year’s product doesn’t advertise anything new, a lot of classics return, from the Downtown insert to parallels such as Flex, Electricity, Jazz, Black Pandora and more.
