Bronny James Prospect and Rookie Card Guide

bronny james cards

Bronny James has been drafted by the Los Angelos Lakes in 2nd round of the 2024 NBA draft. In this article, we will take a look at some of the more notable cards of Bronny James.

Bronny James is one of the hottest names in prospect cards right now. The son of LeBron James attended USC and was drafted by the Los Angelos Lakers with the 55rd pick.

But should we invest in Bronny James RCs? Should you buy sealed boxes or singles? Let’s look at all of this, and more.

Introducing Bronny James rookie cards

Bronny James, or “Bronny,” is the son of basketball legend LeBron James and originally made waves at USC. Standing at least 6’3” and showing promising skills, he’s not only following in his father’s footsteps but also carving out his path in the basketball world. At a young age, he’s already used to the spotlight.

But let’s get something out of the way.

Bronny is not LeBron. He seems like a likable guy and is a talented player, yes. But is he transcendently talented? No. He’s a late first-round pick at the best, most likely, and the only reason his cards are worth as much as they are right now is his last name and the basketball legacy is carries.

That’s not a bad thing, but it is a caution to consider if you’re thinking about investing

Bronny and Fanatics

Given that LeBron has never worked with Panini, it’s also fair to assume the same could be the case for Bronny. Much like Wembanyama did in 2023-24 products, Bronny very well might not sign for Panini.

That would mean his autographs would come out of Topps/Fanatics products but his NBA-licensed jersey cards would come from Fanatics. This is early speculation, but it will be something to closely monitor.

What is the worst case for Bronny James Basketball Cards?

Bronny could be a flop. He’s not a set-in-stone success in the NBA like his dad was. He has the genetics, the training, and the exposure to high-level basketball from a young age, of course.

But LeBron felt like a can’t-miss sort of prospect. Bronny will play great defense and make everybody around him better, but not single-handedly carry his team. They’re different players, and if his play disappoints, his cards could fall.

What is the best case for Bronny James Basketball Cards?

There’s a world where Bronny becomes a basketball sensation for the next decade or more. After a season or two in the NBA, he could become a key player, influencing the outcome of games and playing key minutes.

While we don’t think he’ll ever be a #1 on his team, Bronny has the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of his father, LeBron James, and become a dominant force in the league using a different skillset.

In the best case, Bronny lives up to the hype and becomes a basketball icon, making his rookie cards highly sought after by collectors.

The fact that he has been drafted as part of the Los Angeles Lakers, the team of his dad Lebron James, likely means his clout will not improve even more than it would have otherwise.

How to invest in Bronny James Rookie and prospect cards

One thing is nearly for certain: the market is about to get flooded with Bronny James cards. We already saw his first release with the Topps McDonald’s All-American set introducing his first cards and autos, which were selling for mind-numbing prices near the product drop.

The 2024 Bowman University set will also include Bronny cards, including the 1/1 dual auto with LeBron that’s the set chase, and he’ll probably end up in several Panini Draft sets, too. All of these will come before he ever is an NBA rookie (and given his health concerns, that’s not guaranteed to be next year).

While specific details about his rookie cards may vary, here are some general investment strategies:

Mistakes to avoid when investing in Bronny James Rookie Cards

If you are going to invest in Bronny James rookie cards, there are a few things you can to avoid to improve your chance of success:

  • Buying unlicensed cards: Wait for licensed cards from reputable companies before making any purchases.
  • Avoiding overpopulated cards: Be cautious about investing in base rookie cards that may have a high print run.
  • Prioritizing quantity over quality: Focus on acquiring fewer, but more valuable, cards.

Follow these tips when buying rookie cards from Bronny James:

  • Buy parallels: Look for numbered parallel rookie cards with limited supply for better long-term value.
  • Buy autographs: Autographed cards add a personal touch and have a finite limit, making them desirable for collectors.
  • Buy sealed wax: Investing in sealed basketball card boxes can be a safe bet, especially if you choose the right products.

  • Numbered Paper Parallel
  • Short print/parallel from a chromium set.
  • Unnumbered Autograph

Best high-end Bronny James Rookie/Prospect Cards
