It is always exciting when the fan base of a struggling team gets to see a highly touted young player make their debut and bring with them the promise of brighter days to come.

Collectors also love the idea of “the next big thing”. As the top hitting prospect makes his big league debut, fans and collectors alike take notice. Roman Anthony is the latest iteration of this story, having recently made his big league debut.

But who is Roman Anthony? What are his best cards so far? And are his card worth chasing?

Who is Roman Anthony?

Roman Anthony is a 21 year old outfielder for the Boston Red Sox. He was drafted by the Red Sox in 2^nd round of the 2022 amateur draft, and quickly made his way up the minor league ranks, often as one of the youngest players at his level.

He made his big league debut on June 9, 2025 after spending the first part of the season as the top rated hitting prospect in the minors.

The 6’3”, 200 lb left handed hitter hit a 497 foot grand slam in AAA days before his big league debut.

These ratings suggest an all-around solid player who has the potential to be an impact hitter capable of hitting for power and average.

The 2023 Bowman Prospects Roman Anthony #BP-71 paper version is the non-chrome, non-autographed offering. It has only been graded 192 times by PSA, however, which keeps prices in the $80-100 range.

The premium chromium version, the 2023 Bowman Chrome Prospects Roman Anthony #BCP-71 has been graded many more times, over 1,000 times more, in fact. That higher population count keeps prices in the same $80-100 range as the paper version.

The real prize is the 2023 Bowman Chrome Prospects Autographs Roman Anthony #CPA-RA, which adds an autograph to the chrome version. Graded fewer than 300 times with over 55% PSA 10’s, these are selling in the range of $500-650.

If Anthony thrives in his rookie year, look for prices of all of these cards, especially the autograph, to climb.

The 2023 Bowman Chrome Prospects Roman Anthony #BCP-220 offers up a second card in the 2023 Bowman Prospects set, but with a very low PSA population. The last PSA 10, of which there are only 6, sold for $65.

The 2023 Bowman 1st Edition Roman Anthony #BPPF-71 offers up another 2023 Bowman appearance for Anthony, with a total PSA count of only 18 graded copies.

2023 Bowman Sapphire Edition Roman Anthony #BCP-71 offers up a more premium a sparkly, sapphire colored version with a fairly low PSA population and a price tag in the $120-150 range.

Bowman Draft offers up 2023 Bowman Draft Roman Anthony #BD-112 and 2023 Bowman Draft Chrome Roman Anthony #BDC-112, which again bring lower PSA populations, but also lower demand and prices than their Bowman Prospect peers.
