These inserts offered collectors big-pull potential with an opti-chrome foundation. The first Mosaic standalone release was in 2019 with the 2019-20 Panini Mosaic Basketball series.
The football release followed this, and now, Panini is bringing the Mosaic design to soccer trading cards. The effect of this is a slight knock on the card’s grade. For example, a PSA 10 might get a 9 or 9.5 grading if it has this surface dimples “defect.” While a 0.5 or 1 hit on grading seems negligible, it can also mean the difference between several thousand dollars.
However, even at the height of this “issue,” the pull rate of cards with dimples was small. The likelihood of this being an issue with any of Panini’s 2021-22 Mosaic sets is little to none.
