The results are a mixed bag, and with the changes in the release format and release price over the years, it’s a bit tough to come to any conclusions. These boxes appear to at least hold their value, if not go up in value. Maybe not the best candidate for a buy-and-hold unopened approach, but you could do worse.

What about in terms of singles? What can a look at recent sales of 2023 Topps 206 Baseball singles tell us about the potential for 2024?

The high water mark is a 2023 Topps 206 Miguel Cabrera Ty Cobb Back 1/1 in SGC 10, which sold for $490. A Bo Naylor 1/1 Ty Cobb back sold for $200 raw. A 2023 Topps T206 Wood Paper Stock /20 sold for around $150, also raw. From there, prices drop, with only a handful of recent sales even over $100.

So, the potential for monumental hits doesn’t appear to be here, although hitting a card worth close to $500 from a $55 box is not bad. The lower price point and lack of huge hits may keep the high-end potential in check, but the chance to pull a card worth far more than the box is certainly there.

Every product has pros and cons when deciding whether to purchase and break them. What are some of the pros and cons of 2024 Topps 206 Baseball?

Pros

With a buy-in of only around $55 per box, a retro design and some interesting parallels and inserts, these have the making of a quick and enjoyable break.
The smaller size, T206-inspired design, and alternate card backs make Topps 206 make these a unique product.

Cons

The high water mark for hits from these boxes isn’t as high as many products, although with the low buy-in price, this is to be expected.

With autographs falling one per every four boxes, and only four packs per box, the chances of breaking a box without much to show for it is real.
