The Boys of Summer theme has been a mainstay of Panini baseball releases over the last few years, but has never been a stand-alone release. That changes in 2024, with the release of 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball.
But what will fans find in the inaugural release of 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball? What is the release format? What are the hits? And is this new product worth a break?

We don’t yet exactly how many cards will yet make up the inaugural 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball base set. We do know that the checklist is made up of a mix of prospects and former stars. As an unlicensed product, it follows that regular pattern from Panini.
From a design perspective, the cards feature an old-timey feeling, somewhat faded looking ballpark images in the background. Simple borders and text give these a bit of a vintage feel, although the cards are also undeniably ultra-modern.
In addition to the autographs and memorabilia, packs of 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball will also contain parallels of the base cards.
While we don’t know the full rainbow of parallels, we do know they’ll include Blue, Red, Holo, Gold, Emerald and Platinum.
Memorabilia cards fall one per pack in 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball. These include Five Tool Player Materials, Pastime Materials, Massive Materials, and Jumbo Prospect Materials.
Autographs fall three per each 8-card pack, making them a big part of the appeal of 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball. All the autograph offerings aren’t yet known, but the pre-release info does share a few of the themes.
Among the autograph offerings known are Baseball Signatures, Lumber Signatures, and Leather Signatures. Additional offerings include America’s Best Signatures, American Glory Signatures and Characters of the Game Signatures.
Jumbo Prospect Materials Signatures bring autographs and memorabilia together.
As a new product this year, we don’t have any historical comps we can look at to understand the value potential for 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball.
That being said, we can look at other similar products to get an idea of how the market may react to the product, both now and longer term. For example, the unlicensed nature of the product, with no team names or current big league veterans, hurts the overall value potential. The inclusion of three autographs and one relic card per box certainly helps, however.
A look at other recent unlicensed products from Panini and Leaf suggest that unopened these are unlikely to significantly increase in value over time, but should hold their value fairly well.
In terms of singles, some of the rarest parallels and autographs of top names will sell for numbers into the hundreds of dollars, maybe even over $1,000. These will be lower than equivalent licensed cards, however.
Every product has pros and cons when deciding whether to purchase and break them. What are some of the pros and cons with 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball?
Pros
Cons
There’s a lot to like in the inaugural 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball release. Whether collectors take to the hits-driven, premium unlicensed offering as a stand-alone product or not remains to be seen. If you’re a fan of Panini releases and your collecting budget, it may be worth a break.
From a pure investment standpoint, though, there are probably more established, licensed products that may offer better returns.
