The Boys of Summer theme has been a mainstay of Panini baseball releases over the last few years, but has never been a stand-alone release. That changes in 2024, with the release of 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball.

We don’t yet exactly how many cards will yet make up the inaugural 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball base set. We do know that the checklist is made up of a mix of prospects and former stars. As an unlicensed product, it follows that regular pattern from Panini.

From a design perspective, the cards feature an old-timey feeling, somewhat faded looking ballpark images in the background. Simple borders and text give these a bit of a vintage feel, although the cards are also undeniably ultra-modern.

Pros

These are attractive-looking cards, with a nice mix of older feel with the ballpark backgrounds, but with the high gloss and parallels of an ultra-modern set.
With three autographs and one memorabilia card per box at a $300 price point, 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball fits well into the premium unlicensed product landscape from a price point perspective.

Cons

As a new product, it’s unclear if 2024 Panini Boys of Summer Baseball can cut through the clutter and find itself an audience. Maybe it can, and becomes a collector favorite, but it’s far from guaranteed.
These are an unlicensed product, which will limit to some degree the high-end potential for hits and future value of unopened product.
With only 8 cards per box, the chances to completely strike out on a break is not nothing, which you should keep in mind before buying in.
