2023 Topps Museum Collection base set & design

The base set of 2023 Topps Museum Collection contains 100 cards. Being a shorter checklist, the concentration of stars and rookies is higher than a flagship product.

The checklist contains a mix of current major league stars, top rookies, and legends of the past.

The design of 2023 Topps Museum Collection contains a stylized “frame” with hints of metal, stone, and wood around a player photo with a blurred background. The player name and a small Museum Collection logo wrap up the card front.

2023 Topps Museum Collection value

2023 Topps Museum Collection is an interesting set with a solid design, guaranteed hits in every box, and a mix of current and former stars. But how do they stack up as potential buy-and-hold candidates?

Let’s take a look at recent sales of hobby boxes from the last few years to see what they can tell us.

Shop for 2023 Topps Museum Collection boxes on eBay

YearHobby Box Recent Comp Price
2023$450-500
2022$350-400
2021$400-450
2020$450-475

As you can see, unopened Museum Collection boxes are a bit of a mixed bag. Based on release prices, they appear likely to hold their value over time, but perhaps not a big gainer.

So, keep that in mind if you are considering making several hobby boxes of 2023 Topps Museum Collection a permanent part of your collecting museum.

Looking at singles, a handful of 2022 Topps Museum Collection cards in PSA slabs have sold for over $500 recently. The high water mark was both for 2022 Museum Collection Shohei Ohtani Archival Auto Gold /25, with a PSA 8.5 selling for $1,275 and a PSA 8 selling for $985. No other recent sales surpass $650, and most are well under $500.

So, in terms of singles, there is some upside, perhaps more than recent sales suggest as nobody is selling the top hits, but with a reasonably high buy-in price for a box, ROI isn’t huge and isn’t guaranteed. Know the odds and stay within your budget.

Final thoughts on 2023 Topps Museum Collection

2023 Topps Museum Collection has a reasonably high buy-in price, but brings a nice variety of guaranteed inserts, with a chance at some really amazing pulls.

Still, while there’s a chance of a solid ROI, it’s not guaranteed. Keep this in mind and stay within your budget. But if you’re looking for a rip with guaranteed ink and fabric, you can do worse than 2023 Topps Museum Collection.
